Barclays supports Crossroads with charity car wash

by Martin Norbury

Staff from Barclays Isle of Man will be at the TT Grandstand washing cars, vans and other vehicles on Sunday 29th April to raise funds for its Charity of the Year Crossroads Isle of Man.

Barclays is supporting Crossroads throughout 2012 with a series of internal and external fundraising events in order to raise awareness and funds for the charity. Sundays car wash aims to do both and with the recent good weather enjoyed across the island, the event is set to be a scorcher.

Martin Teare, who is coordinating the event for Barclays, said: The Barclays Parish Walk Team is committed to raising funds for Crossroads Isle of Man. We would like to invite residents to come down to get their car, van or bike washed in aid of this very worthy cause, whilst also having a bit of fun with us and our Manx Celebrity Richard Milky Quayle.

Alex Wilson, Crossroads Care Fundraising coordinator, said: It is fantastic to have been chosen by Barclays as its Charity of the Year 2012. Its charity committee is proactive and has a series of exciting events lined up for the coming year starting with the Car Wash in April.

Crossroads staff and volunteers will also be assisting on the day, which happens to coincide with the end of Ben Carlings Charity TT Course Cycle. Bens challenge to cycle the 37.75 mile course once a day for 30 days will finish at the Grandstand on Sunday 29th April and Barclays staff will be waving him in with a sponge in hand.

The Car Wash will open from 10am 5pm on Sunday 29th April and costs 5 per vehicle for a full hand wash. All funds raised on the day will be donated to Crossroads Care and the total will be matched by Barclays.

Crossroads Care provides meaningful respite to those caring for a loved one with an illness, disability, frailty, substance abuse or mental health problem on the Isle of Man.
