10 travel destinations Australians will flock to in 2015

Otto Beach, Nicaragua.

Australians are obsessed with travel and these days it is rare to meet anyone who has not left the country for a sneaky trip.

In the financial year ending June 2014, more than 9 million Australians travelled abroad, with another 383,000 planning on starting a new life elsewhere, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics information.

Australians get a bad rap for causing havoc as backpackers across the world with their boozing culture and good-time attitude. From the mid-20s sabbatical to London to a gap year on the slopes at Banff, Aussies swarm the hostels of the world like mosquitoes.

But according to a new analysis by Skyscanner, The Future Laboratory and Trendhunter, next year Australians are going to break free of the mould and push into new destinations. Soon, there will be nowhere to escape the Aussie drawl.

Here are the top 10 destinations it is predicted Australians will be flying to in 2015.

In good news, the prediction shows that Aussies are finally hanging up the Bintang singlet and taking out the braids as they move away from the typical choice of Bali and venture further afield in the Asia Pacific region.

Skyscanner's data shows the hottest destinations next year in the region will be Myanmar, the country isolated for half a century, which had a massive 59% search increase.

Ibiza beaches – White Ibiza

Post navigation

A sleepy little resort style beach on the north coast of the island, San Miguel feels a bit like the Ibiza beach that time forgot, thanks to its retro style sun loungers and umbrellas, faded old hotel facades dominating the shores and tourist shops chock-full of the same lilos that they stocked in 1988 but we love it! Less boho than her sister beach Benirras, the vibe on San Miguel is classic family fun, with the flat cove of sand and shallow waters perfect for parents to keep an eye on their little ones while they relax and soak up the sun.

White Ibiza loves: Taking a hike through the pine-clad hills to the left of the beach, where youll find a hidden beach with a secret chiringuito, a beautiful old pirate tower and another island-like beach that faces opposite the port, for a different perspective on the area.

Cala Saladita can be spotted from the neighboring bay of Cala Salada, but getting there is a just a wee bit of a challenge in the peak of summer be prepared to clamber over the rocky divide! The (potentially sweaty) result is well worth it, when you arrive at the smaller, quieter beach with amazing snorkeling opportunities after all, a quick dive into the sea and youre instantly refreshed. There are no tourist amenities or chiringuitos (unless you want to trek or swim back over to Cala Salada), so pack a picnic, bring an umbrella and enjoy the chilled out vibe!

Nude beaches in Ibiza – The Ibiza Paper

Ibiza, like most Mediterranean Islands, has a plethora nude beaches across the island. But as shy British holiday makers make their way over to the White Isle, should they risk everything and drop the trunks and bikinis?

No one can deny that walking around naked in public for the first time is a horrifying thought.

Even if you are the biggest extrovert that dominates bars and the dance floor, somehow walking around in the buff in front of people you dont know is not quite possible.

But British tourist Mike Epps, speaking about his experience on the Ibiza nude beach Es Cavallet says: When everybody is naked and you feel free to be naked too. Everyone is in the same boat together.

Ibiza certainly has its share of nude beaches - and even those that are not dedicated beaches for those wishing to walk around in the buff - couples and even families are more than happy to reveal all. Agua Blancas, on the eastern side of the island, has a cliff made of clay that swimmers and sunbathers coat themselves with, and as one gets closer to the clay area, the less people wear until finally you get to the hardcore naturists at the end of the beach.

Give it a try

The author of The World's Best Nude Beaches, Nick Mayhew, says: I imagine a lot of Ibiza holiday makers will be planning to shed an inhibition or two as they walk through passport control, and of course nude bathing is something that always crops up in lists of '100 things to do before you die'.

He adds: A sunny, laid-back beach in the Mediterranean where bare bodies of all sorts can be found enjoying the surf is as good a place as any to drop the bikini or trunks and give it a try.

Although Es Cavallet is more of a gay-centric location for male nudists there are other beaches driven towards the female and family market.

Aguas Blancas along withCala Bassa and Cala Conta on the west coast are all beaches for first timers in Ibiza.

Factory worker who won lottery jackpot finally returns home from holiday – after eight MONTHS

Euromillions winner Matt Myles has just got back from his holidays eight months after jetting off with his 1million lottery jackpot.

Just three days after buying his lucky ticket, the former night shift factory worker was sunning himself on a beach in Bali.

Since then he has blown 80,000 on a once-in-a-lifetime round the world adventure with friends and family.

Ive had quite a year, reveals Matt, who is single.

He is is one of the thousands of winners to have struck it rich playing the Lottery since it began 20 years ago this weekend.

After Bali, Matt, 27, flew himself, his brother and a pal to Thailand.

From there, they went to Brazil for the World Cup and then Matt paid for himself and 12 friends to go to Ibiza.

He rented a sprawling villa with its own DJ in the hills overlooking the party mecca of San Antonio.

He hired a speed boat to ferry him and his mates to the islands hottest bars and beaches, paid for a VIP box in famous club Space, and picked up the tab for a VVIP day at A-lister hang-out the Ocean Beach Club.

It was totally wild, says Matt. Just the best week of my life, ever. The lads loved it. They were so grateful, and didnt stop telling me.

Teachers need more protection from pupils

I READ a very concern ing report reflecting an increase in the number of assaults on teachers.

Fourteen of the 32 councils in Scotland recorded a rise in assaults on teachers in Scottish classrooms in the last three years.

Of the other councils, a number were unable to provide statistics which would allow for comparison.

In total, some 1879 incidents were reported last year.

The failure of a number of councils to provide data is symptomatic of the apathy that exists among some of those who oversee our education system in Scotland.

More than a decade ago I recall the same levels of apathy in relation to attacks on firefighters.

We succeeded then in bringing these matters to the forefront of Scottish public opinion and new legislation was introduced.

It is time that teachers in our classrooms were afforded the same levels of attention and protection.

Earlier this year we saw the tragic death of teacher Anne McGuire in Leeds.

Punching, kicking, pushing, spitting and verbally abusing teachers is unacceptable.
