Megan Fox not a ‘social networking butterfly’

Megan Fox still hates social media and no longer has a Twitter account.

The star began tweeting on the social networking site last week under the @meganfox handle.

Apparently Megan doesnt understand why she joined in the first place, as she never really had much interest in the Internet.

"Some of you may or may not have noticed by now that my Twitter account has been shut down," she wrote on her Facebook page Thursday.

"I thought that 2013 might be the year that I finally blossomed into a social networking butterfly, but as it turns out, I still hate it.

"Love you guys but I will just never be that girl. Facebook is as much as I can handle. I'm sorry."

Megan didnt appear to get the hang of Twitter initially.

She may have lost interest in the social networking platform almost immediately after she signed up for it.

"I'm incredibly late to the party but I'm here nonetheless, so what now?" her first tweet read.

The 26-year-old actress welcomed her first child with husband Brian Austin Green, Noah, into the world at the end of September this year.

Social networking a family trait in monkeys

Washington, Jan 10 (ANI): An observation on the social interactions of a troop of free-ranging monkeys and an analysis of their family trees has found signs of natural selection affecting the behavior of the descendants.

Rhesus macaques who had large, strong networks tended to be descendants of similarly social macaques, according to a Duke University team of researchers.

And their ability to recognize relationships and play nice with others also won them more reproductive success.

"If you are a more social monkey, then you're going to have greater reproductive success, meaning your babies are more likely to survive their first year," post-doctoral research fellow Lauren Brent, who led the study said.

"Natural selection appears to be favoring pro-social behavior," he said.

The analysis combined sophisticated social network maps with 75 years of pedigree data and some genetic analysis.

The monkeys are a free-ranging population of macaques descended from a 1938 release of monkeys from India on undeveloped 38-acre Cayo Santiago Island, off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. They live in a natural setting with little human intervention other than food provisioning.

Field researchers who had learned to identify each of the nearly 90 monkeys on sight carefully logged interactions between individuals in 10-minute episodes over a two-year span.

They compiled four or five hours of data per individual, logging grooming, proximity and aggression.

From that, the team built web-like network maps to analyze pro-social and anti-social interactions.

CES 2013: Samsung Leads With Looks, Design in New CES Sets – Video

CES 2013: Samsung Leads With Looks, Design in New CES Sets
LAS VEGAS -- Design and definition will be the two most important traits for new TVs unveiled by Samsung at the Consumer Electronics Show. While the TVs will incorporate social networking and personalization, the manufacturer is aiming to capture interest first with the high-res look of the sets, in a back-to-basics focus on the display. That #39;s the early conclusion of Ashley Swartz in this report from CES, following a Samsung presentation she attended. "Last year we saw that folks are not going to buy TVs because of 3D or because of smart TV. They #39;re going to buy because of design and definition, so Samsung is leading with that," she says in this video report. But, new features will still be vital and that includes social tools, voice navigation and content recommendations.Set makers are trying to tap into the power of discovery and help surface programming for consumers in a connected environment, Swartz explains. The current electronic program guides don #39;t do that well, but news sets introduced at the event are aiming to solve that. "Samsung is tackling that with its recommendation engine and new remotes," she explains, adding that a user #39;s social network will also help inform recommendations in a sort of "socialized VOD location."Ashley Swartz is a principal of the New York-based consultancy Furious Minds. She is former head of the interactive television practice at Digitas. She is a regular contributor to Beet.TV-Daisy Whitney
