Internet Marketing Firm fishbat Urges Facebook Users to Be Safe

A recent article estimates that a 20 percent increase in malware threats last year has been targeting user profiles on Facebook. In response to the rise in malware attacks on the growing social media platform, Internet marketing firm fishbat urges Facebook users to be safe.

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 30, 2013

According to Fox News, hackers are targeting Facebook users by [using] phishing scams, fake login sites, keylogger apps, and other deadly threats that look like they come from a friend. Fox News reports, What appears to be a harmless message or wall post can include a link to a site that can steal credit card information or your identity.

As the popularity of Facebook grows, attacks will grow, said Cameron Camp, a security researcher with ESET Security Research Labs, in the article. The more time a user spends on Facebook, the more a potential attack surface grows, because they tend to trust the platform with increasing amounts of personal information that can be used as information for bad actors, and also because if there is an active attack, their computer is more exposed if they are always logged in, and therefore interacting.

The article reports that, according to Dell SonicWALL, within the past 90 days, approximately 28 percent of all Internet app traffic happened on Facebook.

Facebook spokesperson Frederic Wolens had stated in the Fox News article that an internal virus scanning system usually weeds out infections. Facebook also offers a reward for security researchers who report on known threats.

Internet marketing firm fishbats COO Scott Darrohn comments on the article. The dangers of the Internet should not keep anyone from using sites like Facebook and Twitter. Malware attacks, hackers, digital espionage, should all be seen as hazards that can be prevented with the proper amount of education, says Darrohn. Users should be a little more conservative with their social media accounts and always be on the lookout for such dangers.

fishbat was recently awarded Best Social Media Agency of Long Island for its achievement in digital services. Use protection such as a Malware security program and your own instincts, says Darrohn. If it doesnt look right, it probably isnt safe.

fishbat, Inc. is a full service online marketing firm. Through social media management, search engine optimization (SEO), web design, and public relations, fishbat strives as a marketing firm to raise awareness about your brand and strengthen your corporate image.

Internet marketing firm moves to Conway, will create 50 jobs

CONWAY An Internet marketing and technology company is moving its headquarters to Conway, creating 50 "highly skilled" jobs, officials announced Thursday.

Inovu's corporate headquarters is currently in New York.

Inuvo will open on the second floor of Federal Plaza in downtown Conway, 1111 Main St., Gov. Mike Beebe and company officials announced at a news conference at the site.

The company says the 50 jobs will be added over four years. Beebe called them "very, very, very high-paying" and "the jobs of the 21st century that all of us want so badly."

Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Howe said the jobs would largely pay between $75,000 and $95,000. And, he said, the jobs could come even sooner than four years and could outnumber 50 before long.

"There's a good chance it will grow even more," he said after the news conference, which drew more than 100 community members. "We want to do acquisitions. We're actively looking at that."

About a third of the jobs will be employees transferred into Arkansas with the rest hired in the state, Howe said.

Inuvo makes consumer Internet applications and delivers targeted advertising onto websites. It had revenue of more than $53 million last fiscal year.

The state will provide a $1.75 million grant from the Governor's Quick Action Closing Fund to help with relocation and equipment expenses, an Arkansas Economic Development Commission spokesman said.
