Toledo Ohio - Rampaging Juveniles Taking Over Terrorizing the Neighborhood - Colin Flaherty reviews and gives commentary on news with headlines "Neighbors call for action on teen issues in West Toledo" and "Neighbors try new approach to deal with juveniles"[links and excerpts below]http://www.wtol.com/story/38537457/ne...Published: Thursday, June 28th 2018, 9:30 pm CDTUpdated: Friday, June 29th 2018, 12:17 pm CDTBy Blair Caldwell, ReporterTOLEDO, OH (WTOL) -It's nothing new that neighbors near Asbury Park have been dealing with unruly juveniles for at least a year now.

But they say things have gotten worse this summer.

Surveillance video shows three younger kids walking by their day care and stopping near their damaged window and then the video shows the three running away in the opposite building.

"It's not a comfortable feeling," said Gladys Green, owner of Little Generation Day Care. "We have children here 2 1/2 to 12."

"I would like to say that the day care incident surprises me, but to be honest it doesn't," said Liz Zolla, a neighbor living nearby. "Like honestly that's what the neighborhood has been dealing with for the past year."

Zolla said she is moving out of the neighborhood because of these issue. The issues include disrespecting property, stealing park benches, egging cars and running havoc through the streets.

Juveniles taking over their neighborhood and causing problem after problem. So many problems in fact, some neighbors didn't want their name or face to appear in our story for fear of retaliation.

"I can honestly say I don't feel safe in the neighborhood anymore," said one elderly neighbor who has lived there for more than 50 years.

"It's constant 911 calls, said Leslie. My daughter has been assaulted at the park by these children. It's not safe to go to the park and that sucks."

While neighbors are avoiding any contact with the teens, they want to take back their streets. They called in some help from Toledo Police and the Juvenile Prosecutor at their block watch meeting Tuesday night. Their advice for neighbors was simple.

"If you don't call it didn't happen because we don't know about it, said Toledo Police Officer Slay. We want your call."

Lori Olender, the Lucas County Juvenile Prosecutor said the system has changed from years past. They seek to keep teens out of jail, but she says she is doing her best to help.

"All you can do is call the police, explained Olender. You have to know that our hands are tied unless you actually see somebody commit a crime and you know it is them, that's the hard part."

While any advice will help, some neighbors were disappointed knowing more couldnt be done.

"I was pretty mad, said one neighbor who feels personally attacked by some of the violence. Basically, these juveniles are going to take over our neighborhoods."

Colin Flaherty Commentary Video on black people checking doors and robbing cars. Also News "Iraq war veteran, father of 2 killed in Hoover identified" and "Charleston Wells found not guilty in death of Hoover father, veteran Mike Gilotti"

http://www.wbrc.com/story/30887987/iraq-war-veteran-father-of-2-killed-in-hoover-identified/By Julie Rockett, Melynda Schauer, and Rick Journey | January 5, 2016 at 2:27 PM CST - Updated July 2 at 6:40 AMGilotti's wife said she worried about his safety every day he served in Iraq. He came home safely only to have his life taken as he walked out of their front door, six days before their eighth wedding anniversary.

Hoover police believe Gilotti's death may be connected to a series of at least 10 car break-ins that were reported in the same neighborhood.

Hoover police spokesperson Captain Gregg Rector said the 33-year-old homeowner was fatally shot as he was leaving for the gym. Rector said it's possible Gilotti may have encountered someone who was trying to break into cars on his street.

Rector said Gilotti was shot once in the upper body, collapsed in front of his home and died at the scene.

Rector said the victim's wife called 911 to report the shooting. After police began to investigate the homicide, they began getting the reports of car break-ins.

All 10 of the break-ins investigated so far happened to cars that were unlocked, Captain Rector said. Police on the scene of the homicide discovered some of the car break-ins and others were reported by neighbors in the area.

This is the fifth podcast episode in the series on "Misquotes and Misconceptions." Returning guest host for this show is Rev. David Beckmann. Previously he was interviewed about a video series he produced entitled C.S. Lewis on Prayer (link below). This time he asks William O'Flaherty questions about a couple of confusing aspects of Lewis' life. The topics are listed below (that also link to an article online) to help you better understand the issue that is questioned.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IN THIS REPEAT: The fourth in a series on Lewis Misquotes and Misconceptions about him.
This is the fourth podcast episode in the series on "Misquotes and Misconceptions." Returning guest host for this show is Corey Latta. Previously he helped with the second program and he was also interviewed about a book he wrote entitled C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing (link below). This time he asks William O'Flaherty questions about quotations credited to Lewis that are mostly close to what he did write. These are usually paraphrases of what Lewis wrote. The key words of those sayings are listed below (that also link to an article online) to help you better understand the quote in question.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IN THIS REPEAT: My third of a six part series dealing with misquotes and misconceptions.

This is the third podcast episode in the series on "Misquotes and Misconceptions." Guest host for this show is Rev. David Beckmann. Previously he was interviewed about a video series he produced entitled C.S. Lewis on Prayer (link below). This time he asks William O'Flaherty questions about quotations credited to Lewis that he did not write. You will find the key words of those sayings listed below (that also link to an article online) about the quote in question. Also, in the show itself, actual quotes from Lewis are shared that are the closest thing he said on the given topic.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IN THIS REPEAT: My second show of a six-part series aboiut misquotes and misconceptions.
This podcast episode continues the series begun last time. Guest host for this second show is Dr. Corey Latta. Previously he was interviewed about a book he wrote entitled C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing (link below). This time he asks William O'Flaherty questions about quotations credited to Lewis that he did not write. You will find the key words of those sayings listed below (that also link to an article online) about the quote in question. Also with most of the expressions, in the show itself, it is revealed the closest thing Lewis said on the subject.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IN THIS REPEAT: The debut episode of the series Explorling Lewis Misquotes and Misconceptions.

If you have been on social media over the last few years then you have probably seen a quotation attributed to Lewis from someone that you wondered if he actually wrote. That happen to me time and time again; so much that I began to collect them as I researched whether or not Lewis wrote the quote in question. That led to a blog series examining each quotation (see link below). More recently I began collecting information related to the life of Lewis and his writings that are misunderstood and started a blog series on this (link also below). This led me to considering what you now see, the first of a six-part episode chatting about these topics. This initial show provides an overview of all the subjects address in the other programs. Guest host for today is Dr. Crystal Hurd.

IN THIS REPEAT: Here's a short talk from William O'Flaherty from 2015 examining quotes attributed to Lewis...are they really from him?

C.S. Lewis wrote many statements that standalone as great short quotations. However, some quotes when isolated from their context are actually problematic. That is, apart from their setting they often yield a very different understanding of what Lewis meant. Then there are quotes attributed to Lewis that are actually a incorrect paraphrase of something he wrote. This podcast explores these issues. It is William O'Flaherty presenting a twenty minute paper at the recent CSLIS conference that was held in Grove City, PA this year (late March, 2015). See below to read the actual paper and listen to a previous talk about quotations falsely attributed to Lewis.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IN THIS REPEAT: An earlier program from 2012 about a lost Lewis story that is a different version of one already known.
This book interview is from 2012, but it had not yet been featured here since changing the podcast audio hosting. It is a conversation with Dr. Charlie W. Starr and his book Light: C.S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story. It tells the story of how a manuscript surfaced that appeared to be a different version of a short story called "The Man Born Blind." The book reveals the results of his investigation and includes several interpretations of "Light." The interview was recorded at the 2012 C.S. Lewis Colloquium at Taylor University.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IN THIS REPEAT:I usually don't stray too far from material related to Lewis, but here's somewhat of an except. A fictional work by a Lewis scholar that had inspiration from him.

IN THIS REPEAT: An interview aboutThe Faun's Bookselfby Dr. Charlie Starr..A new book that released last month.

The Faun's Bookshelf is an interesting title that explores, as part of the subtitle reveals, "Why Myth Matters." Dr. Charlie Starr, the author, uses books C.S. Lewis mentions on Mr. Tumnus's bookshelf as the framework to examine what myth means and how it teaches us about reality. This interviewed was recorded on the campus of Taylor University the day before the 11th Frances W. Ewbank Colloquium, where he gave one of the keynote talks. Even though Charlie goes into a lot of deal about his book in this interview, you will learn even more about myth by purchasing his book (direct link given below). Speak thanks to Dr. Crystal Hurd who voiced the endorsement given at the start and also an except from Charlie's book.

IN THIS REPEAT: My 2013 interview with Colin Duriez on his biography on Lewis.

IN THE REPEAT: Another great resource from Colin Duriez from a few years ago.

Many books came out in 2013 on C.S. Lewis (the 50th anniversary of his death). Two alone actually came from Colin Duriez. Im repeating the interview I did about his second because my previous place of hosting my audio files no longer has it there. The book is called The A Z of C.S. Lewis: A Complete Guide to His Life, Thoughts and Writings. It takes an encyclopedic approach to the topic and thus provides a person to aspects of Lewiss life and writings that might be left unnoticed. In this interview Colin provides details about the layout of the book and shares some selections from it.

IN THIS REPEAT: Interview with Colin Duriez about his bookThe Oxford Inklings.

Colin Duriez has written about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien many times over his writing career as an expert on the two. But only this year (2015) has he come out with a book exploring the two of them along with a group of other friends who often met twice a week. The Oxford Inklings takes a look at the origins of this group that is often falsely called a "writer's group." In this chat with William O'Flaherty, he explains why it was much more while giving insightful details about the lives of the key members of this influential circle.

IN THIS REPEAT: My show with Dr. Holly Ordway about new new apologetics book.

New for 2017 is a book by Dr. Holly Ordway entitled Apologetics and the Christian Imagination: An Integrated Approach to Defending the Faith. This podcast interview gives an overview of Hollys belief that both reason and imagination should be used for the most effective defense of the Christian faith. She has previously been on All About Jack for a couple of Essay Chat podcasts and co-hosted a series dealing with The Narnia Code, and talking about her spiritual autobiography Not Gods Type.

IN THIS REPEAT: My most recent new episode about a talk Corey Latta gave in June 2018.

- - - -

Dr. Corey Latta, author of C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing, gave a talk at The Marion E. Wade Center during the recent 2018 C.S. Lewis Institute Summer Conference. "Writing Outside of the Inner Ring" is the revised title he told me when giving me permission to share his presentation. While sharing candidly about his own experiences, he uses Lewis's essay, "The Inner Ring" and several letters from 1930 to talk about motivation for writing (and other creative endeavors) and how to stay focused during times of discouragement.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IN THIS REPEAT: My last short talk (paper) at Taylor University...it's about my book,The Misquotable C.S. Lewis.
---------
I gave the following short talk on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Taylor University Colloquium. My brief presentation was part of a variety of academic papers that were presented. The full title of my talk was Surprised By Misquotes: Unexpected Findings from The Misquotable C. S. Lewis. In it, I share some of the unusual details from my years of researching quotations credited to Lewis that he did not write. This talk, however, only gives a small snapshot of what is in the book.
Four blacks in Wilmington, NC, were on the prowl to hunt down some white person in a good neighborhood, convinced that a good neighborhood means theres money lying around.
They found that prosperous white person, a college student who gave them what he had $10 and his cell phone.
The black punks took the money, then shot the prosperous college student in the head.
Who will sound the alarm when evil like this goes unreported or cleaned up?
Do our black citizens benefit by covering up the truth? I think Bill Cosby would disagree.
Hollywood and the music industry continually spew out a stream of sociopathic monsters, and tell us to call them stars of popular culture. The latest is actor Jamie Foxx who proclaimed on SNL how great it was to star in Quentin Tarantinos movie, Django, because I get to kill all the white people in this movie! How great is that?
And then when some black guys pick out a white kid, thinking surely hell have money, and murder him in cold blood, we are not supposed to draw a connection to Foxx or Tarantino?
(*Colin Flaherty is an award-winning reporter and author of the best-selling book, White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America and how the media ignore it. Ive read the book and highly recommend it! ~Eowyn)
People who say racial violence is random either do not know what the word means, or they are not telling the truth.
The latest random attack that wasnt random happened earlier this month in downtown Wilmington, N.C.
Four black people decided they needed some money for marijuana and travel, so they decided to look for a white person in a good neighborhood (because) theyre bound to have money lying around, said one of the suspected killers to the Wilmington Star News.
They tried to break into a home but ran away after they discovered someone was there. So they moved to the downtown area, where three of the group followed a woman for several blocks while the fourth trailed in their getaway car.
Such attacks are part of an epidemic of hundreds of cases of black mob violence in more than 80 cities over the last three years, as documented in the book White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America and how the media ignore it.
The woman escaped. And almost, but not quite, dialed 911.
Joshua Proutey was next, sitting nearby in his truck eating a sandwich when this mob found the 20-year-old white college student. They demanded money. He gave them all he had, $10. They took his cell phone.
Then they shot him in the head.
One of the accused, Chris Cromartie, said he wanted money to visit his 3-year old son in New York. Police arrested Cromartie at the Wilmington Coastal Boxing gym.
Cromartie was a member of the Portia M. Hines Park Project, part of the New Hanover County Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence, and he claimed to be the manager of the gym, a nonprofit club for at-risk youth, said the Star News.
Another suspect, 17-year old Daniel Henry, admitted to a local TV station that he was part of the crime. But he did not pull the trigger, so he did not deserve a life sentence, he said, dabbing away tears behind the protective glass. Im not the tough guy I look like, he said. I get stereotyped so much. I dont want sympathy. I just want justice.
The local police chief said the attack was random and could have happened to anybody.
That misstates the nature of the attackers and the victims.
See the Big List of black mob violence.
As a black person its always racial, said actor Jamie Foxx in a recent interview with the London Daily Mail. Every single thing in my life is built around race.
If race had no role in this crime, the chances of four black people randomly gathering and randomly selecting a white person are estimated at 1.7 out of 10,000.
Umar Lee, a St. Louis writer, activist and boxing coach, says police often ignore the racial element of a crime, because it makes their city look bad. But the criminals pay close attention: They seek the defenseless.
Most of the people who get beat up are vegans, gays, artists, non-violent types,Lee said. Many are kids from the suburbs or recent immigrants. People who are not prepared to defend themselves. There are white neighborhoods blue collar, middle class neighborhoods where these folks will not go because they know that people there are willing to defend themselves.
And then there are places like downtown Wilmington.
Heres a picture of the victim, 19-year-old college student Joshua Proutey:
When black Trayvon Martin was killed by half-white George Zimmerman, before details of the killing even became known, Barack Hussein Obama fanned the flames of accusations of racism against Zimmerman by saying If I had a son, hed look just like Trayvon.
Since Obama is half-white, will he say If I had a son, hed look just like Joshua Proutey?
I dont think so! Why is that?
Oh silly me. Its only RAAAACISM when whites (or half-whites like Zimmerman, or one-quarter whites, or.) kill blacks. But its not racism when a gang of blacks specifically targets whites in a good neighborhood, robs a white person of $10 and then shoots him in the head FOR NO REASON.
Obama, Jamie Foxx, and all you black racists, you have the blood of Joshua Proutey on your hands.
