WeCrashed Cast: Where You’ve Seen The Actors In The New Apple+ Series Before – CinemaBlend

Ever since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has given its subscribers access to some of the best shows in the streaming world, and the platforms collection of shows only seems to be getting better all the time. That trend has continued throughout the early part of 2022 with shows like The Afterparty, Severance, and its latest addition, WeCrashed. The new eight-episode limited series dives into the unparalleled rise and fall of the WeWork shared office startup company, as well as its major players.

After watching the first episode of the series or going through the entire run, you might be wondering where youve seen the members of the WeCrashed cast before. And while some of the bigger stars like Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway stick out, others might surprise you with everywhere they've been over the years.

Today's best Apple TV+ deals

Taking on the role of the eccentric and ambitious co-founder of WeWork Adam Neumann on the WeCrashed cast is Academy Award winner Jared Leto, who is appearing on his first TV show since breaking out as Jordan Catalano on the landmark 90s teen drama My So-Called Life. But its not like Leto hasn't been busy over the course of the past 28 years.

Throughout his career, Leto has given outstanding performances in everything from gritty drug-fueled dramas like Requiem for a Dream, dark comedies like American Psycho, and even superhero projects like Suicide Squad, where he gave a new spin on The Joker (a role he would later reprise in Zack Snyders Justice League). Leto also stole the screen in Dallas Buyers Club (he won his Oscar for his role), Blade Runner 2049, and The Little Things. Hes next set to appear in the long-awaited Morbius.

Anne Hathaway serves as the second co-lead on the WeCrashed cast with her portrayal of Rebekah Neumann, the wife of Adam Neumann and one-time chief brand and impact officer of WeWork. The Apple TV+ limited series is the latest in a recent string of shows that have featured Hathaway in major roles, the previous being the Amazon originals Solos and Modern Love.

One of the most decorated actresses of her time, Hathaway has received an Academy Award and Golden Globe (both for her heartbreaking performance in Les Misrables), a Primetime Emmy for her 2010 guest appearance on The Simpsons, and a number of other recognitions. Her most notable work includes The Princess Diaries, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises, Rachel Getting Married, The Devil Wears Prada, and Brokeback Mountain.

Taking on the role of WeWork co-founder and former chief culture officer Miguel McKelvey in WeCrashed is Kyle Marvin, who has mostly worked behind the scenes serving as producer for much of his career.

Prior to his work on WeCrashed, Marvin wrote and starred in the 2019 comedy-drama The Climb, which was based on a short film of the same name he produced one year earlier. He also appeared in an episode of the drama series All Wrong, which he also wrote and directed.

America Ferrera appears on the WeCrashed cast as Elisha Kennedy, a young entrepreneur who gets wrapped up in the complicated culture and drama surrounding WeWork. No stranger to the small screen, Ferrera has made a career out of giving outstanding performances on shows like Ugly Betty (a show that made her a star and earned her multiple awards includes a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy), The Good Wife, Superstore, Independent Lens, and multiple others.

During that same time, Ferrera has appeared in more than two dozen film productions including Lords of Dogtown, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (and its sequel), the successful How to Train Your Dragon animated film franchise, and End of Watch to name only a few.

One of TVs rising stars, O.T. Fagbenle, shows up on WeCrashed as Cameron Lautner, a powerful investor who gets put into the unenviable position of trying to get WeWork, and its eccentric owner Adam Neumann, in tip-top shape ahead of the companys complicated upcoming IPO rollout, which proves to be something that is easier said than done.

Some will see Fagbenles face and immediately think of his character, the mysterious Rick Mason, in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 movie Black Widow, though others will remember him for a completely different reason. Since 2017, Fabbenle has portrayed Luke Bankole, June Osbournes (Elisabeth Moss) husband on Hulus smash hit series The Handmaids Tale, a performance that earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2021 as well other accolades. Over the years, Fagbenle has also appeared on Looking, The Five, FM, Thorne, and even Doctor Who to name just a few. Hell next appear in the Showtime drama series The First Lady, portraying former United States President Barack Obama.

Veteran of the silver screen and small screen Anthony Edwards shows up on the WeCrashed cast as Bruce, an investor at Benchmark Capital who falls under the spell of Adam Neumann and his unique philosophies on business and life in general.

Edwards, who is also appeared on the Netflix true crime limited series Inventing Anna earlier in 2022, is perhaps the most prolific member of the WeCrashed cast with credits going back over decades. Edwards appeared in some of the best '80s movies with comedies like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Revenge of the Nerds, action flicks like Top Gun, and several others. His success would continue and reach new heights in the 1990s with a remarkable run as Dr. Mark Greene on the medical drama series ER, a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy and four Screen Actors Guild Awards before leaving the show in 2002.

Since then, Edwards has appeared in movies like Zodiac and shows like Designated Survivor and Law & Order: True Crime, to name just a few of his more recent credits.

Theo Stockman appears in WeCrashed as Jacob, one of the first WeWork employees to join Adam Neumann in his revolutionary venture.

Over the years, Stockman has made a career out of making one-off appearances on some of the biggest shows of the past decade-and-a-half, including 30 Rock, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Blue Bloods, as well as comedies like Inside Amy Schumer and High Maintenance. His film work includes A Good Marriage and The Boy Downstairs.

Cricket Brown shows up in WeCrashed as Chloe, a WeWork employee who joins the company during its booming period following its launch.

The majority of Browns career up to this point has been spent in short films, though she has popped up in Dukeland and The Unholy.

These are just some of the actors who appear on the eight-episode WeCrashed limited series. If you want to know what other shows will be joining the new Apple TV+ series, check out CinemaBlends 2022 TV schedule so you dont miss any of the great new and returning shows.

How scientists are working with Wikipedia on access to reliable information – The Scotsman

But the public perception of Wikipedia has changed, and must continue to do so, argues Adam Harangozo, the first ever Wikimedian in Residence at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) based in London.

Mr Harangozo, who formerly worked in Edinburgh, is one of a growing number of Wikimedians in residence at libraries, universities and other cultural institutions across Scotland and the UK.

He is the first to work with the NIHR, as part of a pilot which began last year.

His role forms part of the evidence and dissemination team, and involves planning, coordination and teaching.

The goal is for accurate information about medical research to be more accessible to the public.

He believes there is a gap in health literacy, both in the language used by scientists and their distance in society from most everyday people.

It is the responsibility of science to be open, inclusive and transparent, he said.

"If there is a problem that people don't seem to trust or understand something, it is not people's job to go after science, it is sciences job to do things differently or do things better.

Wikipedia is a great platform for that, because there scientists and the lay public work on the same texts, the same knowledge, under the same rules.

There are still a lot of preconceptions and scepticism about Wikipedia, Mr Harangozo said, but it is more reliable than people think, with several studies finding its content high quality when compare to scientific journals.

Wikipedia doesn't pretend to be a reliable source in the sense of please use me in your PhD as a source. It is an encyclopaedia. It is a starting point, to get information and then it leads to other reliable sources, he said.

Many people think that just because anyone can edit it youre free to do whatever you want, but actually there are very rigorous policies and guidelines on Wikipedia which try to ensure that you're writing from a neutral point of view, you're using reliable sources, and that all the statements that you put there are verifiable through those sources.

It is extremely important that more institutions begin to work with Wikipedia, which is used by billions of people to find medical information, he added.

The pandemic has been a challenge and an opportunity for medical information on Wikipedia, and Mr Harangozo believes it has risen to it well.

Something that can be edited by anyone and is thought to be not necessarily reliable managed to keep up in this storm of misinformation, and really defend itself from fake news and misinformation, he said, adding that Wikipedia remains a reliable source in this very important and quickly changing atmosphere.

Candace Imison, Associate Director of Evidence and Dissemination at the NIHR, also said the spread of misinformation about Covid and vaccines during the pandemic has highlighted the importance of trustworthy sources of information.

Our collaboration with Wikimedia UK, through the new Wikimedian in residence role, provides the NIHR with a great opportunity to promote the evidence from health and social care research to a mass audience, she said.

History’s Most Ludicrous Moments The Irvington Voice – Irvington Voice

Source Material:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag-map_of_Switzerland.svg andhttps://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Longneck_bottle_neutral.jpg

The past is filled with people and events that are far stranger, and funnier, than anything we can come up with. Here is a compilation of what I think are some of the best throughout history. Enjoy!

The Battle of Karansebes

In 1788, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was at war with the Ottoman Empire, and a major Austrian force was garrisoned at the small town of Karansebes in modern Romania. Late at night, a group of hussars (Austrian cavalry) went scouting for Ottoman troops instead of finding any Ottomans, they found a group of Gypsies offering to sell them Alcohol. Naturally, they accepted. As they were getting steadily more drunk, a contingent of the Austrian infantry arrived and began to demand some of the drinks for themselves. In response, the hussars deployed for battle. Shots were exchanged, and a drunk confrontation exploded into full-scale warfare between Austrians and Austrians. As the night wore on, the Austrians began to push back the Austrians, resulting in the Austrians fleeing in a decisive rout. The noise woke up sleeping Austrians at the main camp, all of whom assumed they were being attacked by Ottomans and panicked. The forest turned into a massive free for all that left hundreds dead, with Austrian Emperor Joseph II finally ordering a general retreat against the nonexistent Ottoman force. When the real Ottomans finally arrived days later, they found a deserted town and occupied it with no casualties.

Gaddafi v. Switzerland

Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is well known for having been a little off the rails. He lived in a tent on foreign trips, called both the Israelis and the Palestinians idiots at an Arab summit, and once stated at a conference in Rome that it was not Jesus, but someone who looked like him, who was crucified. In terms of absurdity, though, all of this pales in comparison to his dispute with Switzerland.

It all started in 2008, when the Swiss police arrested Gaddafis son and daughter in law for abuse against hotel staff. They were released after just two days, but those two days were enough for Gaddafi to go ballistic. He forcibly closed Swiss companies in Libya, withdrew money from Swiss banks, and arrested a couple of unfortunate Swiss citizens who happened to be in Libya at the time. But that wasnt enough for him; at the next G8 summit, Gaddafi proposed to a shocked room of world leaders to remove Switzerland from existence by partitioning it between Italy, Germany, and France. When the UN didnt follow through on this thoughtful proposal, Gaddafis son made a public statement that if he had nukes, he would vaporize Switzerland. The situation got so bad that Switzerlands President issued a formal apology to Libya, which angered the Swiss people and did nothing to ease Gaddafis anger. It took Gaddafis death at the hands of rebels in 2011 for diplomatic relations between the two nations to finally normalize.

Djordje Martinovic

Djordje Martinovic was a Serbian farmer living in Yugoslav Kosovo in the 1980s. For reasons best known to himself, Martinovic decided one day to stick a beer bottle up his rear end, wide side first. Needless to say, this was a pretty terrible idea. Martinovic quickly realized that fact when the bottle suddenly broke, embedding glass fragments in his body and causing painful internal injuries. Likely knowing that he would be the laughingstock of the entire nation if he told the truth about what happened, he decided to blame the Albanians instead and tell hospital staff that he was attacked while working in his field. In ethnically divided Kosovo, this didnt blow over well, and the Yugoslav government eventually formed two commissions to investigate the incident (yes, two separate government commissions to investigate whether a guy shoved a beer bottle up his backside). In the end, it was generally agreed that Martinovics wounds were self-inflicted, and nobody was prosecuted. But the ethnic tension heightened by the incident remained, and contributed to the breakup of Yugoslavia years later.

Meta Partners with Zefr to Improve its Advertiser Safety Tools – Social Media Today

As it works to provide more options for brands to manage their ad placements across its apps, Meta has announced a new partnership with brand suitability platform Zefr which will better enable advertisers to ensure that their promotions dont appear alongside potentially offensive material, as defined by their own concerns on this front.

Zefr, which has also partnered with TikTok and YouTube on similar initiatives, utilizes advanced AI identification systems, including audio, text, and frame-by-frame video analysis, along with scaled human review, to provide a more accurate and customized brand safety solution, giving more specific placement control to ad partners.

As explained by Meta:

We will work together [with Zefr] to develop a solution to measure and verify the suitability of adjacent content to ads in Feed, starting with small scale testing in the third quarter of this year and moving to limited availability in the fourth quarter.

The partnership will help Meta develop better systems to ensure brand safety, while still maximizing ad opportunity.

Meta additionally notes that its developing internal suitability controls as another means to give advertisers more control over where their ads are shown.

We have begun scoping and building these new controls for Facebook and Instagram Feeds focused on primarily English speaking markets, with plans to test in the second half of the year before rolling more broadly in early 2023. Over the course of the next year, we will expand placement coverage to include Stories, Reels, Video Feeds, Instagram Explore and other surfaces across Facebook and Instagram, as well as expanding to additional languages.

Meta already offers various brand safety tools, including topic exclusions and 'publisher allow' lists, which provide broad-ranging oversight tools for brands. These new options will facilitate more specific control, so that brands can exclude the exact placements they choose, while still reaching as wide an audience as possible.

Brand Safety controls came into focus back in 2017 after YouTube lost millions in ad revenue when publishers started pulling their ads due to them appearing alongside extremist and hate speech content. Meta has also faced various challenges on this front - though its major ad challenges have been more specifically focused on the companys own stances, as opposed to placement concerns.

Meta banned ad placements near NSFW content back in 2013, and has been working to refine its systems on this front ever since. Meta was also the subject of an advertiser boycott in 2020, in protest against the platform's handling of hate speech and misinformation, which further underlined the rising concerns around the companys perceived focus on revenue over safety.

Given this, its important for Meta to continue its development, and these new projects will help to improve its placement tools and options.
