If all talk about sustainability, companies will be forced to make changes: Harsh Mariwala – Exchange4Media

Your commitment to environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) is a continuous journey. It is not something that you do and immediately achieve (the expected outcome). You have to perpetually keep contributing towards the betterment of environment and society, said Marico Founder & Chairperson Harsh Mariwala.

He was speaking on the topic of why brands should be purposeful in a fireside chat with exchange4media Group Founder & Chairperson Annurag Batra. The duo was discussing the importance of sustainability goals and Maricos commitment to them at the recently concluded Indian Marketing Awards event in Mumbai on Monday.

Speaking about Maricos commitment to the purpose-driven business, Mariwala shared, Marico started pursuing its purpose which is making a difference to all stakeholders including the shareholders, employees, and customers some 10-12 years ago. I was inspired by a book called Firms of Endearment' written by Jagdish Sheth, Raj Sisodia (and David Wolfe) wherein they talked about the power of good business and compared the financial performance of such businesses with those who do not follow the practices benefitting all stakeholders. And since then, we are committed to making each and every stakeholder a proud part of our business.

He added that each employee at Marico is motivated to go beyond what is expected of them to do something that creates a larger impact. We have also been sending members from our agency partners to our trainee programmes at our cost. The kind of motivation and bonding this creates is amazing and great for business growth.

On being asked about his thoughts on sustainability by Batra, Mariwala quipped that it has grown from being a business goal to a requisite.

ESG has been a topic of discussion across all companies board meetings and most boards are demanding (to know) what brands are doing on this front. In fact, even the new employees we have been hiring, their first question to us is about sustainability and what our business is doing towards it. Therefore, I believe that the change should come from within, for each individual. No amount of legal course can make that happen. If all shareholders demand this, all the companies will be forced to make the changes in a more effective manner.

Mariwala continued that while most people might still be looking at ESG as a cost function the paybacks are huge.

The duo also touched upon the growing entrepreneurial spirit in the country and how it will impact the future. Mariwala highlighted that the Indian entrepreneurship sector is growing like never before and the trend will continue with the advancement of technology. I read somewhere that India got more than 40 unicorns in the last year, a number which the country had earlier achieved in more than nine years. And I think we should not be talking about valuations because it is a concept that has been inculcated in the students and entrepreneurs who come from non-business families. Some of these businesses might not succeed too, but the motivation this growth is creating is the most important thing. And now with more mentorship programmes and shows like Shark Tank, I only see the entrepreneurship spirit growing in the country. We might keep complaining about the slow economic growth in the country but ultimately we are responsible for driving this growth. The government can create policies to best support the entrepreneurs but the innovation and ideas have to come from the community.

Facebook post rehashes false claim that Hillary Clinton was found guilty of spying on Trump – PolitiFact

While developments about Russias war in Ukraine have overtaken the news cycle in the last three weeks, one Facebook post urges folks to remember another headline.

"Just a reminder that right before Ukraine was invaded, Hillary was found to be guilty of spying on a sitting U.S. president," read a March 14 Facebook post.

No, she wasnt. And the post was flagged as part of Facebooks efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

The Facebook post appears to be alluding to a Feb. 11 court filing that attracted widespread attention from Republicans and right-leaning media, who frequently mischaracterized its findings.

The filing, part of an ongoing federal probe by special counsel John Durham, did not implicate Clinton or her campaign in engaging in an elaborate scheme to gather information on the former president.

Durhams 13-page document addressed a potential conflict of interest regarding the legal representation of Michael Sussmann, an attorney for a law firm that represented Clintons 2016 presidential campaign.

Sussmann was charged with making a false statement to the FBI during a meeting in 2016, where he provided the agency with data that may have demonstrated evidence of a communications channel between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank.

The indictment alleged that Sussmann told the FBI that he was not acting on behalf of clients, when the indictment claimed, he was secretly acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign.

He has pleaded not guilty and denied wrongdoing. Clinton has not been indicted on any charges stemming from the matter, nor has she been found guilty of alleged spying.

We found no credible evidence to support the Facebook post. We rate this claim False.

Did Hillary Clinton Tweet This Snarky Response to Russia’s Sanctioning Her? – Snopes.com

In mid-March 2022, a quote attributed to former U.S. Secretary of State (and Democratic presidential candidate) Hillary Clinton went viral on various social media platforms:

The quote is real, and was posted to Clintons Twitter account on March 15, 2022.

It was a tongue-in-cheek response to news that Russia had imposed retaliatory sanctions against a number of high-profile U.S. officials and political figures, including Clinton, U.S. President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, among others.

The Russian sanctions against U.S. political figures was in response to the U.S. sanctioning Russia for its ongoing attack on Ukraine.

Russias sanctions provoked an onslaught of snark.

In response to the news, Psaki mocked the sanctions during a press briefing by noting that the Russian government may have accidentally sanctioned Bidens late father, noting that the presidents full legal name includes junior.

I would first note that President Biden is a junior, so they may have sanctioned his dad may he rest in peace, Psaki stated, adding, None of us are planning tourist trips to Russia, none of us have bank accounts that we wont be able to access, so we will forge ahead.

Clinton responded the news on Twitter with her own snark, with a reference to the way actors often accept Academy Awards:

Hillary Clinton speaks out after Brittney Griners arrest in Russia: Free Brittney – Yahoo Sports

Hillary Clinton is joining in on calls to bring home Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner.

The former First Lady and Secretary of State tweeted out Free Brittney along with an article about Griner from the BBC on Wednesday following Griners arrest in Russia.

Clinton is now one of the most prominent officials to speak out to try and help Griner.

Griner was arrested last month in a Moscow airport after authorities say they found hashish oil vape cartridges in her bags. Its unknown when Griner was actually arrested, but it could have been up to a month before it was made public.

There are fears that Griner is being used as a high-profile hostage, especially considering Russias ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Griner, 31, is a seven-time WNBA All-Star with the Mercury, and has helped the United States win a pair of Olympic gold medals. She, like other WNBA players, also plays for UMMC Ekaterinburg in the Russian Premier League during the WNBA offseason.

If convicted, Griner could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison in Russia. Her location, other than that she is in Russian police custody, is currently unknown. Its also unclear what is being done specifically to try and get Griner back to the United States, though several officials have pledged to help.

We are aware of the situation with Brittney Griner in Russia and are in close contact with her, her legal representation in Russia, her family, her teams, and the WNBA and NBA, Griners agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas, said in a statement. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we are not able to comment further on the specifics of her case but can confirm that as we work to get her home, her mental and physical health remain our primary concern.

Pete Davidson’s life in ink: From odes to his exes to tattoos of Winnie the Pooh and Hillary Clinton – New York Post

He wears his heart on his (tattoo) sleeve.

Pete Davidson has had several tattoos inked across his body in honor of girlfriend Kim Kardashian despite the fact theyve only been dating for four months but shes not the first lover he boldly etched on his skin.

With references to exes, his late father and his favorite film, the SNL stars tattoos tell his life story with some chapters being written before the publics eyes.

Kardashian, 41, revealed the news of multiple tats during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, saying her favorite of Davidsons inkings is an inscription that reads: My girl is a lawyer.

She also confirmed her comedian beau, 28, has had the word KIM branded across his chest with a hot iron.

He wanted to do something that was really different [for me], Kardashian cooed, claiming Davidson told her: I dont want to be able to get rid of it or to cover it up, and I just wanted it there as a scar on me.

Indeed, the funnyman has been getting some of his tattoos removed in recent years including odes to his former fiance Ariana Grande.

According to Insider, Davidson had more than 70 tattoos in total before he began getting them burned off by laser in late 2020.

Last July, the Saturday Night Live star spoke about removing the body art, saying he hopes to have most of his tattoos removed by the time he turns 30.

But while dozens of Davidsons inkings appear completely random, including images of a white unicorn and Winnie the Pooh, many others are extremely sentimental.

Getting inked is an entirely emotional process for the candid comedian, who has struggled with mental health issues.

The Staten Island native told Inked magazine back in 2019 that he gets tattoos because its just a release and a way of stopping self-harm.

When [Im] so manic and upset, sometimes thats the only thing that will work for me, he declared.

Here are some of Davidsons most prominent and outlandish inkings that reflect his turbulent and colorful past.

Davidsons whirlwind romance with Grande began in May 2018, with the pair getting engaged the following month.

Almost immediately, the funnyman headed to the tattoo parlor to have his affection for the pop queen emblazoned on his body.

Grande famously wore distinctive bunny ears on her Dangerous Woman album cover, prompting Davidson to have the design tattooed below his left ear.

He also decided to have the French phrase Mille tendresse meaning a thousand tendernesses inked across the back of his neck.

Grande herself had the exact same tattoo in the exact same location, with Davidson believing his matching design was a cute way to show his love for the God Is A Woman crooner.

But tattoo artists warned Davidson against getting the impulsive ink.

Manhattan-based Jon Mesa who has tattooed the comedian multiple times allegedly told Davidson: Hey, dude, lets just stop with the girlfriend tats until after [Grandes] your wife.

Mesa later spilled to Page Six: Relationships come and go, and Pete is a really young man. [But] I think that went in one ear and out the other.

Indeed, the relationship between Davidson and Grande ended after just three months, with the funnyman forced to cover up the tattoo tributes he had done.

He turned the bunny ears into a love heart, while he poignantly had the word CURSED scrawled across the back of his neck to obscure the matching Mille tendresse inking he got for Grande.

While romantic relationships come and go, Davidsons admiration for his late fireman father has been unending so it seems unlikely hell laser off a tattoo he had done in his dads memory.

On his left bicep, Davidson has a drawing of a firefighter crouched on his knees with his head in his hand a tribute to his father Scott, who died on 9/11.

Davidson was just seven years old at the time of his dads untimely death, and the openly-emotional actor has admitted that his grief spiraled into a depression that affected him for close to two decades.

It was really so hard for him [Peter] to recover, and I would even say that its just been recently that hes finding his way and being okay, Davidsons own mom, Amy, said of her son in an interview in 2020.

In addition to the drawing of a firefighter, Davidson also has his fathers badge number 8418 tattooed on his left forearm.

Given Davidsons battle with anxiety and depression, its no surprise he finds solace in inspirational quotes.

Like many Millennials, the comedian grew up reading Harry Potter and has a quote from Albus Dumbledore inked on just below his dads firefighting badge number.

The quote, which comes from Harry Potter and the Prison of Azkaban reads: Happiness can be found, even in thedarkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

Meanwhile, on his back, Davidson has a quote inked in cursive from one of his favorite films Rocky.

Its not about how hard you hit, the tattoo states. Its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.

On his left bicep, Davidson has another motivational phase which also doubles as a tribute to his dad.

The quote, Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, comes from The Firemans Prayer a manifesto for those who work in the profession.

But while Davidson may have literary quotes across his frame, he memorably had far more random phrases tattooed near his left nipple.

In a 2018 shirtless GQ photoshoot, the actor could be seen sporting the inking, which stated: Jokes come and go, but swag is forever.

The inking didnt last long, and he soon had an image of a shark tattooed over the top.

Meanwhile, the shark isnt the only animal seen on Davidsons frame. The actor appears to house an entire zoo on his pale skin, with a leopard, a crab, a pig named Piggie Smalls and a drawing of Winnie the Pooh all etched onto his flesh.

Davidson stunned fans back in 2017 when he debuted a leg tattoo of failed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The image which appeared to have been copied from a 90s-era photograph of the former First Lady even prompted a reaction from Clinton herself.

After Davidson uploaded a photo of the body art to his now-defunct Instagram page, Clinton responded: Thanks, @petedavidson. This makes it significantly less awkward that Ive had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years.

However, Clinton isnt the only female icon that the funnyman has on his frame.

Eager to flaunt his feminist credentials, Davidson also has an inking of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on his right shoulder.

The legal eagle is seen sporting a crown atop her head in the tattoo, with the image seemingly inspired by the Notorious RBG drawing originally created by Shana Knizhnik.
