4 Content Techniques That Will Improve SEO & Sales

On the back of Panda, Penguin and any other updates Google has stored in the Zoo, writing SEO content has become more and more about delivering a better user experience.

Gone are the days of keyword laden text that reads poorly and lacks substance. It has been laid to rest and will never return. Were not mourning.

With quality content the buzzwords on everyones lips, identifying areas in which you can deliver a better user experience whilst adhering to key SEO techniques is the overall goal.

Below are four aspects of on-page content that enable you to naturally combine interesting, marketable content with SEO copywriting techniques, resulting in a page that is not only likely to rank higher, but turn more visitors into customers.

Users arent going to read all of your content.

They wont.

As an SEO writer its something youre just going to have to deal with. OK? Have you recovered? Good.

The less content there is, the more users will read. Pretty simple but not advantageous if youre trying to get across a number of key selling points to new customers. Striking a balance between word count and design/usability should be the focus.

When writing, remember that readers are only going to consume a short amount of information, so make the most of the advantages you have!

The stuff you see when you first land on the page is whats most important. Searchers are fickle beasts theyll click onto another page quicker than you can say Gday, making it vital to get your key messages across quickly and efficiently.

Is SEO a science?

Is SEO a science,Yes, says Mike Baxter, Lead Consultant on Econsultancy's Digital Certificate in Search Engine Optimisation

Econsultancy recently launched the UK's first university accreditedDigital Certificates, which focus on strengthening digital marketing skills for those looking to begin or develop their careers in this industry.

Here, Mike discusses the value of the certifcates, and explains why SEO is a science, not an art...

Okay, that's a deceptively simple question with some big issues underlying it.Let's start by exploring just what SEO is and how, in an ideal world, we should approach training and professional development for new SEO practitioners.

Firstly, there IS a science of SEO,we have a systematic understanding of how search engines work and what changes to websites and the links between them tend to increase and decrease organic search engine performance.

Is our scientific understanding of SEO incomplete? Of course it is! Our scientific understanding of physics is incomplete but nobody ever suggests we shouldn't teach, or offer qualifications in physics because of it.

The science of SEO is, however, complex. Far too complex for the application of a few rules to guarantee success.

‘Inbetweeners’ will not return, says James Buckley

The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has stated that the E4 series is unlikely to return.

Buckley - who played Jay Cartwright in the sitcom - was recently reported to have hinted about a fourth series being planned, which would include a major character death.

However, co-creator Iain Morris later denied the rumours, calling them "total b*llocks".

Buckley reiterated that the reports were unfounded, telling NME: "I've not been spoken to about it at all. I've had interviews in the paper just completely made up.

"I've not spoken to anyone for six months. There was an interview in the Daily Star where I was quoted saying we were going to do a fourth series and one of the characters was going to die, which wasn't true."

He added: "There are no plans to do any more, unfortunately. I think that will be the last you see of The Inbetweeners."

The cast was last seen together in the big-screen Inbetweeners Movie, which was released in August 2011.

James Buckley became engaged to his girlfriend Clair Meek earlier this year.

Customers are able to choose between two Monarch Air Packs: an Essentials Pack and a Premium Pack, combining extras such as allocated seating, hold baggage and access to online check-in.

Customers can also take advantage of MFlex, which provides improved flexibility for customers when booking flights on Monarch's scheduled network of flights. Charged at only 2.50 per person, per flight, the new MFlex product must be added at the time of booking. Once added, the customer is free to make one change to their booking up to 15 days prior to departure, which includes a date change or a route change, without incurring an administration fee*. What's more, if a customer selects MFlex when booking, but makes no subsequent changes to their booking, Monarch will refund them the value of MFlex in the form of a credit voucher, which can be used as part payment towards a future scheduled flight with Monarch.

Europe votes to cap data roaming prices, will make it cheaper to tweet from Ibiza

European Union countries already had a data roaming cutoff law in place to prevent bill shock after your next Balearic vacation, but the price of the data in question should get much cheaper very soon. The European Parliament has just voted 578 to 10 to cap the price customers pay at no more than 70 Euro cents (91 US cents) per megabyte starting from July 1st, with that price eventually dipping to 45 Euro cents (58c US) a year later and just 20 Euro cents (26 US cents) in 2014. Voice and text price caps are going down to as little as 19 and nine Euro cents (25 and 12 cents US) in that two-year span, and if you're visiting from outside the EU, you'll be glad to hear that the anti-bill shock rule will apply to you this year as well. So, while you still might want to avoid uploading large videos from your phone while in Spain, you'll at least have the option of checking in on Foursquare without having to take out a small mortgage.
