Jonathan Goodman, president of Halyard Consulting and professor at The School of Internet Marketing spent the whole of his podcast for October 11, 2013 discussing the SMX East 2013 conference. This event took place in New York at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Goodman provided a recap of some of the biggest events during his boradcast. The most important topic and the one that everyone is most concerned about is Google's latest algorithm update, Hummingbird. Goodman provided his analysis on what this is going to do for search. It is the first move into semantic search where the results vary based on your past searches and not just on keyword ranking.

According to Goodman, the second page won't matter anymore because the relevant information will be on the first page. This is going to alter the way people look at content. Goodman also stated the importance of Google Plus and of establishing yourself as a real person and not just promoting a product.
Goodman defined the direction that online marketing is headed as Relational Marketing. It is going to be more about the relationships that businesses have with their clients and the audience on Google Plus and the strength of their brand. This is going to change the way people look at marketing and searches for their businesses.
