Ibiza beaches are everywherethis is an island, after all. It is a small island, but nevertheless has more than 80 beautiful beaches. The young people who flock to this little island for its nightlife and parties generally congregate on the famous beaches that are close to the nightclubs. However, youll find that some of the best beaches in Ibiza are those that have loud music and wild parties, as well as some more peaceful ones.
The most sophisticated and relaxed Ibiza beach is probably Cala Jondal, located about twenty minutes by car southwest of Ibiza Town and little past the airport and Sa Caleta Bay. The islands official nude beach is Playa des Cavallet (or Es Cavallet), located southwest of Ibiza Town (about fifteen minutes by car) and just before Las Salinas Beach. Although there is plenty of nudity here, it is natural beauty you should look for. Rugged sand dunes and pine forests ring the beach, and this wildness is one of the reasons the beach is so secluded despite its proximity to the islands largest town. Like most Ibiza beaches Es Cavallet has several bars, cafs, and restaurants. One section of this Ibiza beach is also very popular with gay travelers.
One of the best beaches in Ibiza is Las Salinas, named for the salt lakes it backs. These lakes have been producing the priceless white gold for a couple thousand years. This Ibiza beach is more than a mile long, and boasts a number of bars (with the usual blaring music) and restaurants. Because the salt lakes are part of a large conservation area, there is some great hiking here. There is also good catamaran sailing and windsurfing.
If you want Ibiza beaches with a dose of hippie dj vu, you might try Benirras on the northeast coast about three miles west of the town of Portinatx. Come for the fabulous sunsets, which is the time the hippies come out and impromptu drum concerts are apt to erupt. Some of the best beaches in Ibiza are located in this area. They are also the most remote, and its hard to get to any of them unless you have a vehicleeither a boat or a car. You may be rubbing elbows with rich and famous jet setters, as this is a popular beach for private yachts to anchor. If you really want a break from crowds and loud parties, its highly suggested you visit the nearby island of Formentera at least once during your holidays. The beaches here are truly beautiful and light years away from disco clubs.
