Mark Their Silence – From Rave To Metal Core

Having spent much of my youth dripping in sweat at various raves, UK and Ibiza scene, and ultimately having to cope with reasonabilities that come with age - mortgages, degrees, education, business, I thought I would try to relive my musical youth again - dip my little toe into hard core again. The Rave scene isn't what it used to be around here or maybe what I remember, but I heard about a small, unsigned, but apparently shit hot metal core band in my home town of Wantage, UK, called Mark Their Silence. I decided to pay them a visit on one of their gigs they were playing here in North Wantage, old school hall - they are based in Reading, I just didn't know what to expect... I am older now, would I look out of place? Should a late 30's be doing to a teenager rock gig in this day and age - jail bait waiting there to bounce at a later date ? How extreme does Metal Core compare to the raves of the early 90's ?

Anyhow, lucky for me, not the youngest, loads of pissed up punters when I arrived a bit late in the pouring rain, no dealers other than a well stocked bar...so less chance of agro, and the toilets were needle/empty wrap free. Booze was cheap. Loads of alternative bands in line up, including the headliner for that evening Cue The Fiasco https://www.facebook.com/CueTheFiasco

Normally I prefer or preferred the thrill of a DJ mixing up their shit, but this old school metal gig was just the score.. before long I was moshing hard core again like a teenager after about 4 pints. At times bordering on a mosh fight, but a good laugh. My age / build came as an advantage.

Mark Their Silence played close to the end - Cue The Fiasco been the headliners for that evening, deep riffs professionally performed - and unlike the other previous acts engaged with the pissed up punters that we were by then.. off stage guitars (I can see why wifi guitars could be an advantage) in the mosh pit. Lighting system was a bit shit, but for an unsigned band playing in an old school, what would you expect ? Cue The Fiasco a local home town band also performed well as the headliners.

It was a good laugh all I can say.. for me I'm moving from rave to metal core.. I wish that band well, sign-em !! They got me back into the sweat of moshing again, with no downside other than a few aching muscles.

They should consider the nu-metal / rock clubs in Ibiza for gigging aswell.

Ibiza City - Eivissa

Eivissa is situated at the south of the island, this is the administrative center of the island. The historic center is classified by the Unesco.

Eivissa is one of the most picturesque city of the mediterranean area.

The old city surrounded with wall is the host of the magnificent cathedral and the Santo Domingo church.

The harbor

The harbor is situated at the bottom of the old city, it is the departure point of boat services to Formentera, Palma, Denia and Barcelona. Many restaurants and bars are situated near the piers.

Sa Penya

Sa Penya is the most characteristic district of Eivissa, it acts as a tangle of streets carrying out towards the walls of the city, it is today the place dreamed for a tourist (shops, bars, restaurants...)

The high city - Dalt Vila

The surrounding wall of the city is classified ancient memorial since 1942. This wall was built between 1554 and 1585 under Charles Quint orders. This is an heptagonal structure with three doors to get in.
