Forget about that pathway to citizenship.

The Republican divide on whether undocumented immigrants can become citizens is consuming most of the headlines. But theres a trickier issue at play that ultimately could prove to be a bigger stumbling block for immigration reform: a guest-worker program for future immigrants.

Last March, the AFL-CIO and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce reached a delicately crafted deal on the number of low-skilled workers such as hospitality employees who can legally come into the country. That deal is a major reason why the Senate reform bill was able to pass in June.

But House Republicans have not yet resolved this thorny problem the GOP principles released last week only broadly touch the issue and Republicans are split over whether to raise or reduce the number of guest workers coming into the country, according to several top sources close to the issue.

Meanwhile, Democrats will be reluctant to depart from the high-stakes agreement struck between labor and business.

There are serious divisions because there are some people who, frankly, just dont want a lot of folks coming from the outside, said Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) on Wednesday. Pointing to the current jobless rate, he added: They have some very legitimate arguments.

If a House solution veers too far from the Senate deal on guest workers, key officials believe the entire reform effort could collapse. Thats because it risks losing support from the pivotal constituencies who helped pass comprehensive immigration reform last year.

One person close to the Senate negotiations said one of the key reasons for the success of the Senate bill is because of very carefully crafted compromises on the guest-worker programs. These pacts formed a marked change from the previous failed effort at comprehensive immigration reform in 2007, the person noted.

The Bay Area Search Engine Academy, located in California's San Francisco Bay Area, has announced that registration for its next internet marketing class, or "SEO" training workshop will close on Friday, February 7. Registration is limited to fifteen people in the class, which will be held in Dublin, California, just east of San Francisco.

Thomas Petty, President of the Bay Area Search Engine Academy said, "The rules for marketing online have changed in the last year or two, and we teach business owners the correct steps needed to get their business found online by their customers."

The class gives the participants easy-to-follow instructions and examples they need to build an effective online marketing program for themselves or their clients. Class time is spent practicing the concepts, and participants receive real-time feedback as they learn.

Petty said, "Business owners don't want to be web geeks, they just want to learn how to market effectively online where their customers are already searching."

The classes are kept to no more than 15 people. Each person should bring a wireless-enabled laptop and work on either their own website or their client's in the class. They are each given class time to present problems to the other students, get constructive feedback from the instructor, and learn to solve common SEO problems. As the week progresses, more challenging tactics are presented and practiced.

The week starts by teaching an easy six-step process that gets its students ramped up quickly without having to know technical code, then students learn more difficult techniques. The week culminates with an optional examination to attain SEO certification.

"Anyone can learn search engine optimization and get good results," Petty adds. "Even successful business owners struggle with the correct way to engage online. This just simplifies the process so it's not geek-speak."

Those who complete the five day "Master" course also receive six months of mentoring and support after the course ends. Petty said, "The follow-up mentoring for Master SEO certification student is probably one of the most valuable parts of the program, because we cover so much material in one week. This gives students additional support after they leave the classroom to ask more questions and get help while they put their knowledge into practice."
