Dont expect to do much poolside relaxing, this is an all-out party. The Top 10 Vegas Pool Parties of 2014

1. Wet Republic at MGM Grand

At a huge 53,000 sq. foot, the now infamous Wet Republic has propelled itself into first place with recent renovations and the introduction of new Bungalows giving the ultimate VIP experience. Packed full of beautiful people and celebrities every weekend, you may even spot the occasional Royal. The Prince Harry partying has firmly cemented that day at Wet Republic in the history books. The venue offers VIP services including Daybeds, Lounge tables, Dance deck tables, Deluxe Cabanas and Bungalows with Jacuzzis.

2. Marquee Day Club at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Since the Cosmo opened its doors in 2010, it quickly became the hip hotel on The Strip and this is largely thanks to the Marquee Dayclub and Nightclub. Marquee was one of the first uber-clubs in New Vegas and the Dayclub does not disappoint, offering a smaller and more intimate pool party. Expect to see some of the worlds best DJs playing here with VIP services including Daybeds, Cabanas and Grand Cabanas with infinity Jacuzzi.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Nick Yates earn a bachelors degree from the University of Technology in business and marketing. He began his career working for Mojo Advertising in Sydney where he was senior media buyer for the Qantas Airlines and Toyota Motor Company accounts.

In 2002, Yates founded Healthy Vending Pty Ltd, the worlds first healthy vending machine business, placing 250 such machines throughout Australia. Most contained only macro-biotic products.

After witnessing the demand for healthier food, Yates sold his company in 2005 and moved to San Diego with the intention of introducing healthy vending to North America. In 2006, Fresh Healthy Vending was launched as the first such franchise, placing 1,800 healthy vending machines throughout 250 markets. Fresh Healthy Vending has become the worlds largest healthy food vending machine company with a footprint of 2,300 units (as of July, 2013).

An advocate for childhood obesity prevention, Yates also created the initiative, FreshandHealthy.Org, which offers as incentive, $1 million in grants to schools, businesses, hospitals and community centers in an attempt to replace their junk food machines with healthful snack machines. To date, the initiative has donated $300,000.

What brought you to La Jolla?

Coming from the eastern suburbs of Sydney, I wanted something that offered the same as far as culture, good food and wine, and, of course, beaches. Ive lived on the La Jolla coast for six of the eight years Ive been in San Diego. Im never leaving. I love it here!

What might you add, subtract or improve in the area?

An upscale marina on the coast filled with bars and restaurants for overseas visitors to park their yachts and visit La Jolla would really put us on the map.

Hoteliers on Majorca are happy as German bookings for the holiday island power ahead this year.

Majorca is heading for another strong summer on the German market after good business in 2013, German tour operators told local media. TUI Germany chief Christian Clemens said the market leader has a bookings increase of 5-6% for the island this summer while demand is even stronger for Ibiza (+20%) and Menorca (+21%). The companys concept hotels are proving particularly popular.

Thomas Cooks Germany chief Michael Tenzer did not disclose any bookings figures but said that Majorca is benefiting strongly from rising demand on the German market, although this also depended on hotel price levels. Markus Daldrup, the new tourism chief of Alltours, said he expected double-digit growth for Majorca, where the German tour operator last year bought several hotels.

Sren Hartmann, head of DER Touristiks Cologne-based package tour operators, said 2014 is a year of classic destinations, with good growth for Spain along with Greece and Turkey. ITS and Jahn Reisen have a combined bookings increase of 7% for the Balearic Islands, with single-digit growth for Majorca but lower growth for Menorca and Ibiza.
