Farnworth: Man attacked by a group of people with weapons – The Bolton News

Police were called to Avondale Road, Farnworth, nearits junction with Mount Pleasant Road at around midnight on Sunday.

They found a man had been attacked.

Police confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A GMP spokesperson said: We were called to a report of an assault from a group with weapons of a man on Avondale Road, Farnworth at around midnight on Sunday, March 26 2023.

Injuries sustained are believed not to be life threatening.

No arrests made at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

Police maintained a presence on the street into the afternoon on Monday.

Crime scene investigation teams were called with part of the streetsealed off by police.

Later in the day Bolton Councils neighbourhood team were called to clean up the blood which had remained on the pavement.

Nearby residents spoke of their shock at what had taken place.

Lloyd Burgess has lived in the area for two years.

He said a friend had told him he saw CCTV where there was a disturbance with some thought to be armed with some form of bats.

He added: "It happened in the early hours.

"There police were here.

"I used to live on Highfield road before I moved here, most of the stuff happened there before they got rid of the cashpoint, that got done in a lot.

"There is a good community here, everyone speaks to everyone, we are good friend and we look out for each other.

"It is a bit unusual for it to happen here."

Another nearby resident said she was up all night as a result.

She said: "Somebody got assaulted in the middle of the night.

"It must have been about 1am or something like that.

"The crime scene investigation were here this morning, they had cones out."

She said she had been up all night as a result, adding: "It is a bit strange them being here all night.

"The crime scene investigation left around 1.45pm."
