"We're really excited," Michael Davis, concert committee member, said. "Not only is it the first time for the community event, but it's also the first time the singers have traveled together as a group. They will be in Hastings the night before, will come to North Platte and then go on to Iowa."

He said all denominations and ages are welcome to attend the concert. An autograph session and refreshments will follow. There will not be an admission fee.

"It's going to be fantastic show," Davis said. "It's already created a lot of energy within the community. We're also putting together some local talent to do a pre-show. If someone would like to be part of that, they can contact me or Jacque Harms." Davis can be reached at 530-9050. Harms' number is 530-1035.

Spreading the word about author Donald Antrim

NEW YORK (AP) -- At age 53, author Donald Antrim may just be getting started.

Over the past two decades, he has published three highly praised novels, a memoir and numerous short stories in The New Yorker. He has earned the respect, even reverence of such peers as Jonathan Franzen and Jeffrey Eugenides, but so far has had what he calls "literary-level" sales, the kind that leave many writers without a publisher or even a book in print.

But those who do read him are determined to tell others. He is under contract from a top literary house, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, for a novel, a second memoir and a book of stories. His previous novels "Elect Mr. Robinson for a Better World," ''The One Hundred Brothers" and "The Verificationist" have been reissued by Picador, a paperback imprint of Farrar. Introductions are provided by Franzen, Eugenides and George Saunders, who regards Antrim as an overlooked genius.

"There's a discrepancy between what a great writer he is and how many people know this," Saunders told The Associated Press. "He is one of the funniest, sharpest, edgiest writers in America."

Antrim is almost a genre in his own right, Franzen writes in the introduction to "One Hundred Brothers," utterly "unlike any other living writer." His books are narrated by young, unstable men who wish to love and do good, but are compelled to make chaos. The plots are free and fantastic, yet constructed with mathematical logic: the romantic and philosophical thoughts of a psychiatrist suspended in mid-air at a pancake house; a home school teacher gone mad; a dining room bursting with 100 quarrelsome brothers.

The novels are short and unbroken, without chapters or even breaks between paragraphs. They take years to write in part because Antrim has no idea how they will turn out when he starts them. He will get an idea a gathering of psychiatrists or a family meal. He will write, pause, write, step away, come back. Each new sentence works off the sentence just completed, for some 150-200 pages.

"It's a very frustrating, but in some ways a really pleasurable way of working," Antrim, a tall, stocky man with a thoughtful speaking style, said during a recent interview at his Brooklyn apartment.

His literature is no stranger, or more complicated, than his childhood. A native of Sarasota, Fla., Antrim was mostly raised by an alcoholic mother who aged into "an increasingly damaged Lady Macbeth," he wrote in the memoir "The Afterlife." His parents married, divorced, then married and divorced again. He had an uncle who was apparently enough of a threat that federal and state agents once handcuffed him and took him away.

Antrim didn't know he wanted to do for college beyond get out of Florida. He chose a top school in the North, Brown University, where his fellow students included such future authors as Eugenides and Rick Moody. Antrim was interested in theater at the time and Moody remembers working with him on a production of Franz Kafka's "The Trial."

"I was a little intimidated by him at first because he was a couple years ahead of me," Moody told the AP in an email. "But I remember vividly the day, in rehearsal, when, in operating the whip that was one of his character's props, he threw his shoulder out of the socket, and then set about, in character, trying to get the thing to pop back in.

DGAP-News: Lotto24 AG receives permit for online lottery brokerage

DGAP-News: Lotto24 AG / Key word(s): Regulatory Approval Lotto24 AG receives permit for online lottery brokerage

Press release

Lotto24 AG receives permit for online lottery brokerage

(Hamburg, 24 September 2012) Lotto24 AG is one of the first private companies in Germany to receive a permit allowing it to broker state-run lotteries via the Internet.

Petra von Strombeck, CEO of Lotto24 AG, states: The permit is a prerequisite for nationwide operations and thus a very important milestone in our short company history.

After an almost four-year ban of online brokerage under the old State Treaty on Games of Chance, private companies are now permitted to broker state-run lotteries in Germany once again.

The permit is valid for the whole of Germany for a period of five years, excluding the states of North-Rhine Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein. The new First State Treaty to Revise the State Treaty on Games of Chance (GlndStV) has not been ratified in North-Rhine Westphalia yet. Gaming legislation in Schleswig-Holstein differs from the rest of Germany, in that lotteries can be brokered online without permission.

The newly granted permit includes provisions which will hamper the development of business, especially the restrictive requirements regarding the protection of minors and an obligation to submit tickets in the federal state of the respective player. The company expects these restrictions to apply equally to other market participants.

Further official permits are required for advertising Lotto24s product range. It is expected that nationwide Internet and TV advertising will not be possible until the GlndStV comes into effect in North-Rhine Westphalia. The company assumes that this will be the case in the course of November 2012.

Business Valuation Software delivers appraisals in PDF or Word.

"We noticed that our existing software was often used by financial professionals who wanted more control over both the assumptions and the presentation of the report," David Annis, President of Valuations LLC said. "In the past we often assisted in creating these reports by hand. Now, users can create the reports by completing a simple interview."

The software will automatically handle calculations like adjusting from cash basis to accrual basis and weighting income from multiple years but will allow an end user to easily override the default values. Financial statements are automatically recast to adjust for non-market rate owner compensation, related party transactions, interest expense, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The program also asks the user non-financial questions about the company being valued, and computes an appropriate earnings multiple. Despite the sophistication, most businesses can be valued in about an hour.

Users can also customize the template upon which the valuation report is based so that they can change the wording, include their company logo of other graphics, and change the layout so that it looks good on their standard letterhead. The website interface can also be customized, allowing business brokers and other professionals to private label the application and add it to their own websites.

The software is available by subscription, with pricing between $33 and $50 per month, depending on the length of a subscription.

The software was designed by experienced business consultants who have over 30 years combined experience as intermediaries, consultants, and appraisers. It is available at http://www.ezvaluation.com/pro.html. The company's original and highly popular easy valuation program is available at http://www.ezvaluation.com for $24.95 per valuation report. About Valuations LLC: Valuations LLC was founded in 2007 by a group of mergers and acquisitions specialists to provide low cost web based mergers and acquisitions advisory services. They have offices in Okemos, MI and Providence RI.
