Announcing the Launch of Antique Social

Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) August 29, 2014

Antique Social is pleased to offer the first comprehensive social networking service, which gathers both buyers and sellers into a single spontaneous community. By giving dealers in antiques, art, vintage, and design a place to share their passion via individual posts, collectors, designers, and just plain folk have a place to interact. And Antique Social doesnt stop there; our marketplace also includes show information from various antique markets across the country, as well as an avenue for shopping a variety of established group shops without leaving home.

Like most industries, the business of buying and selling antiques and art has changed dramatically over the years. Traditionally, if one was interested in shopping for antiques, it was necessary to attend a show or seek out dealers in single owner or group shops. Although nothing will ever replace those one-on-one live experiences, it is not feasible for many interested in decorating or living with antiques to visit markets and shops regularly. Antique Social believes the seeming lack of interest in antiques and art by younger generations has less to do with the appeal of the material than it does with how they shop and how they live.

The internet created the opportunity to shop virtual auctions, dealer-owned websites, or large virtual antiques malls. And although the internet has opened many doors--allowing anyone with an internet connection to shop worldwide--it has also served to separate buyers from sellers in many ways. The idea behind Antique Social is to bring back the buying and selling experience by offering a community where everyone plays a part. Antique Social is removing the corporate approach by putting the fun back into the business. Antique Social is a community of people who are free to interact with one another by shopping in real time with real people. Antique Social will recreate, as much as possible, the experience of walking into a show or a shop where you can strike up a conversation with anyone you meet. Do not get us wrong; it is hard to beat walking into a great show seeing beautiful things or stopping along the roadside to visit an interesting shop. But when thats not possible, visiting with dealers and buyers in a fun place is what Antique Social is all about.

Antique Social has been designed to assist both buyer and seller by making it easier to do both. Daily posts provided by dealers to Antique Social assure buyers of a constant flow of fresh material as well as fresh ideas. See something you like but its not quite what you are looking for? By being able to reach out to dealers on Antique Social in real time, one comes as close as possible to visiting a dealer without walking through a door. It's like having a personal picker and now, with Antique Social's social media service, the pick of the litter.

When it comes to sellers, Antique Social offers a virtual real time market that enables dealers to share their new gem and find it a new home. Tim Chambers of Missouri Plain Folk says, "As a dealer, I know personally so much of my effort goes into finding fresh material that when it comes to taking time to market my finds, I dont have enough time to do it. Or, as is so often the case in todays rapidly changing environment brought on by social media, I dont know how to do it and do it right. Social media changes as rapidly as my inventory!"

Antique Social to the rescue. Dealers only need know how to send a picture with a description and Antique Social takes it from there. The dealers presence is maintained with regularity on social media sites, including Facebook and Instagram, at whatever pace the dealer chooses. Antique Social lets dealers do more of what they like to do: buying and selling. And Antique Social can make sure everybody knows about it!

Police officers investigated for inappropriate social media use

THIRTEEN police officers employed by the force covering Herefordshire have been investigated for their inappropriate use of social media.

One high ranking officer faced a grilling from bosses at West Mercia Police after disclosing information about work on a social networking site.

A police constable was given a written warning for accessing "inappropriate content" on a similar site, while a fellow constable was caught on a dating website.

Seven civilian staff members at West Mercia also faced action following breaches relating to the use of social media.

None of the 20 members of staff were dismissed for their actions.

The figures cover the period from January 2009 to February 2014 and were obtained following a Freedom of Information (FOI) request by the Press Association.

West Mercia said in a statement its employees "are accountable for whatever they put into the public domain", and must not post anything likely to discredit the force, even from a private account.

"Social media has revolutionised the way people communicate and share information and provides both forces (West Mercia and its partner Warwickshire) with new and innovative ways of engaging with and involving people in policing," said the statement.

"To enable our workforce to effectively use social media both forces have a Social Media Communications Policy and set of guidelines which inform our officers, staff and volunteers how to use social media in both a personal and professional capacity.

"The basic principle is that all officers, staff and volunteers are accountable for whatever they put into the public domain, even in a privately held account and must not behave in a way which is likely to discredit their police force.

Anti-Modi FB post: Goa police to quiz accused on June 1

The cyber crime cell of Goa police has summoned the 33-year-old engineer, who allegedly posted comments on social networking site Facebook against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for questioning on June 2.

Devu Chodankar would be asked to appear before police for questioning on Monday (June 2), Superintendent of police (Cyber Crime) Kartik Kashyap told PTI in Panaji on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chodankars lawyer Jatin Naik said they will not apply for anticipatory bail in a higher court now and would face police investigation on June 1. We will wait and watch. Mr. Devu will not apply for the anticipatory bail in the High Court, Mr. Naik said.

We had planned to go to the High Court but decided to keep the plan on hold, he added.

Mr. Chodankars anticipatory bail was rejected by a local court last week after the cyber crime cell told the judiciary that they wanted custodial interrogation of the accused. The engineers father had told police that Mr. Chodankar was out of the state and would require 15 days time to appear before them.

Goa-based businessman Atul Pai Kane had recently lodged a complaint in connection with Mr. Chodankars Facebook post with the cyber crime cell. The cell had moved the court here seeking custodial interrogation of Mr. Chodankar claiming that his FB post was a larger gameplan to promote communal and social disharmony in the state. Subsequently, his anticipatory bail was rejected by a local court.

Police had filed an FIR under section 153(A), 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), besides section 125 of the Representation of People Act and section 66-A of the Information Technology Act. Some of these sections are non-bailable.

Goa DGP T. Mohan had on Monday assured a delegation of activists in Panaji that complete fairness would be observed while probing the case against Mr. Chodankar, who made some anti-Modi remarks on the social networking site on March 23 when the Lok Sabha was on. However, the comments were deleted later.
