The School of Internet Marketing Professor Interviews Danny Dover on Video Optimization

Jersey City, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 27, 2014

In his latest podcast, Jonathan Goodman president of Halyard Consulting and professor with The School of Internet Marketing, spoke with Danny Dover about video optimization. Danny is the author of Search Engine Optimization Secrets. He has been cited in numerous magazines including Time and PC World. He is also known for his website Lifelisted.com.

Jonathan and Danny began the discussion around SEO trajectory compared to online video. Danny is moving his clients away from old style SEO content and into video production in order to boost customer engagement. Danny explained how video has evolved to require creative storytelling in order to engage the viewer and provide information.

"My persona online is more like a shadow of who I really am. It outlines me and it certainly is a reflection of who I am or part of who I am, but its not who I am." Danny Dover

The two also discussed the YouTube video domination over Google and the benefits of social network sharing. Over the course of the podcast Jonathan and Danny also talked about such topics as the benefits of crowd funding and how using media such as videos, photos, and graphics boosts blogs. Jonathan described this as making information, more consumable.

The podcast closed with Dannys story about where the idea for his website lifelisted.com originated. Stemming from his struggle with depression, it was his desire to help others overcome their own obstacles, accomplish their goals, and live richer, happier lives.

5 SEM Spying Strategies You Can Use Today to Generate More Profit

Internet Marketing is getting more and more competitive and if you want to run profitable campaigns, you need to know what your competition is doing. We have all done market research on our competitor's website, keywords and ads, but how actionable is that data?

I'm going to show you what spying data can actually help you improve results.

If you're doing paid search, you typically want to know which keywords your competition is using, what ads and landing pages they serve up, and how much they are spending.

If you're doing SEO, you want to know who is ranking for your important keywords, how many links do they have, and from where. Some popular spying tools for SEO include http://www.moz.com, http://www.majesticseo.com, http://www.similarweb.com, and http://www.raventools.com.

Remember, begin with the end in mind.

You can't be successful at marketing if you don't know who you are marketing to. Ask yourself, Who is my ideal, best or most profitable customer? What keywords would they be searching to find my products or services?

Once you've clearly defined your target market, important keywords and specific PPC and/or SEO competitors, the spying can begin!

Most marketers have used a keyword spy tool before, usually entering in a keyword or domain to see what the tool reports back. I highly recommend doing this for anyone involved in marketing and especially the organization's executives.

Here is a good post that lists and reviews competitive analysis and keyword research tools.

We break the spying down into three components:
