Clubber’s guide to Ibiza Town | Ibiza spotlight

As the capital of the White Isle, Ibiza Town (Eivissa in Catalan) is the heart of the island and home to beautiful historic sites as well as offering visitors all that a Mediterranean city should. From the gorgeous harbour which is overlooked by the fortified walls of Dalt Vila to the cobbled paths of the old town, Ibiza Town truly captivates the magic and beauty of the island. As a compact and pedestrian friendly town parking spacescan be hard to find (even though there is a new and big outdoor parking space just off the port) so consider walking, taking a taxi or a bus.

A great place to take a trip to during the day the island's capital has a wide variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars. The 16th century walls of Dalt Vila are undeniably one of the biggest attractions in Ibiza Town and with an array of restaurants from Italian to Tapas it makes the perfect evening escape whilst being very romantic. Through the cobbled streets you are led to the Baluarte de Santa Luca where breathtaking views can be seen of Ibiza Town and its neighbouring resorts such as Talamanca. Although the majestic views at the peak of the town are next to none, the port at the foot of the hill offers trips to the blissful Formentera as well as being home to some very plush yacht's.

To escape the city buzz take a moment to grab a coffee from the tree-lined Plaza del Parque area which attracts anything from magicians to random performers as evening approaches. Whilst being perfect for a daytime excursion, Ibiza Town also comes alive at night with entertainers, music and markets which attract a strong crowd each night.

With Pachabeingjust a short stroll away the streets are often the catwalks for the sexy and scantily glad dancers who along with the PR staff set out to entice you into one of the islands best clubs. Expect naked flesh, extravagant costumes, stilt walkers and leather. So if seeing hot models getting progressively tipsy in their platform stiletto's appeals to you then head towards the gay-orientated Calle de la Virgen where they will be enjoying a mixture of Chupitos free shots!

The hippie chic boutiques, fetish shops (openuntil 10pm or even midnight during peak season) midnight),fast food joints,Italian restaurants and gaybars which line the the inappropriately-namedstreet of the virginmake for a fascinating midnight stroll. Although music is not meant to be audible on the street after 12am you can still party inside the small but perfectly-formedLola'sonCalle Alfonso XII perfectly warming up your night before heading to one of the super-clubs; Amnesia, Pacha, Privilege or Space usually open from midnight.

A little out of the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town sitsMarina Botafoch and Ibiza Nueva, true beauty spots for the rich and famous and nosey. Here you will find the more glamorous venues such asEl Madrigal and Sushipoint which all offer tantalising food and drink accompanied by stunning views of Ibiza Town. You can also party the night away at nightclub, Bubbles, so with so many places to visit this area becomes a real attraction over the weekend as it is the perfect place to mingle, dance and enjoy a cocktail or two, so what's stopping you?

The luxurious event restaurant Lio the old El Divino,, also sits nearby and hosts a range of high calibre events such as Carl Cox's 50th birthday... glamorous and luxurious are the words that spring to mind. Not forgetting the Cipriani which is located within the 5 star Ibiza Gran Hotel near Pacha; both are top end places with high end cuisine - expect to see familiar faces from world class models to headlining DJ's.

Calle de la Virgen is a must as it will open your eyes to the diversity and spark of Ibiza, also try Plaa de Sa Drassaneta which is just around the corner and the strip that lines the port which is home to some notable institutions such as Jason's Bull's Base Bar and the neighbouring Rock, or see if you can find Dusi's Locura (just behind Comidas San Juan)

The aforementionedMarina Botafoch should also be on your to do list during your visit; laying on the cusp of Ibiza Town it embraces a more tranquil side to Eivissa. Providing you with views, great food and drink and of course music it makes a perfect escape to grab a cocktail of an evening.

Drinks can be quite a bit more expensive than the resorts ofPlaya d'en Bossaor San Antonio if you manage to grab a beer for 5 you've had a steal! However we recommend checking out the bars, where the locals go, especially the ones around the aforementioned Plaza del Parque. Ibiza Town is renowned for being a magnet for international tourists and prides itself on being gay-friendly; so if you want to experience a lot of culture splashed with vibrance, fun, music and laughs then a visit to Ibiza Town is a must.

Ibiza Nightlife: Ibiza, Balearic Islands, Spain

The Spanish island of Ibiza became a popular haunt of hippies in the 1960s, who were drawn to the island by the wonderful weather, beautiful beaches and stunning scenery. Shortly after, many local business started to flourish due to these new visitors to the island and nightclubs began to open and thrive in Ibiza. The exceptional nightlife is now synonymous with the island.

Ibiza has a reputation as a party island and during the 1990s, tourism here grew dramatically and the island was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the 'entertainment island of the world'. Many thousands of visitors fill the resorts on Ibiza and the big-name nightclubs are legendary, attracting partygoers from all over the world.

In the 1980s and 1990s many DJs came to Ibiza during the summer season and established their own brand of dance music, which became associated with the island. Many of the DJs became famous and performed to large crowds of more than 3,000 nightclubbers. The clubs and nightlife in Ibiza are now an important part of the islands economy, attracting many tourists.

Admission charges are usually fairly high and drinks are also expensive in the largest nightclubs, where the dance floors are often filled with foam. The smaller clubs are cheaper and although they do not have such major entertainment, they do have a charm of their own.

Clubbers are not expected to follow a specific dresscode and many enjoy setting trends and follow the island's strong sense of fashion. During the peak tourist season on Ibiza, there are bus services that connect Sant Antoni with Ibiza Town, where the majority of the nightclubs are located.

Top nightclubs in Ibiza include:

Nightclubs stay open until the early hours of the morning and many people are still partying when dawn arrives.

Space (Ibiza nightclub) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the Miami nightclub, see Club Space

Space (//, Spanish:[espeis], Catalan:[spejs]) is a nightclub on the island of Ibiza, Spain, owned by STANCA. It was awarded "Best Global Club" at the International Dance Music Awards in 2005, 2006 and again in 2012. Space is located in Playa d'en Bossa on the outskirts of Ibiza Town, close to the airport.

Space in its current form began in 1989 when Pepe Rosello, Ibiza nightclub owner since 1963, took over the establishment, which in the four years since it was built had housed a conference hall with a discothque. The opening policy agreed with Spanish licensing laws, which state that an establishment must close for at least two hours a day.

The first DJs to shape the venue into its current shape were Alex P and Brandon Block two British club DJs/Producers and residents of Sunday Space Terrace Space's outdoor terrace, where airliners roar overhead.[1] This open terrace and the roaring sound of the airliners breaking through the booming dance music has become one of the club's defining features. Since Amnesia and Privilege have had to encase their open-air dance-floors due to noise complaints from their neighbours, Space remains one of the few venues where club-goers can have this experience, and the crowd's greeting of the arriving aircraft [2][3] has also become a ritual among the club's patrons.

Other resident DJs/producers responsible for the club's popularity include Reche, Jose de Divina and Jon Ulysses. Space released compilations every year via the former Azuli label and now with CR2 Records.[4]

Space's Flagship Sunday sessions began in 1999. We Love... Space is a weekly party which opens at 4.30pm on Sunday and keeps going until 6 AM Monday morning. The event runs for 16 weeks throughout the summer season.

Following the closure of three of Ibiza's Clubs at the start of the 2007 season,[5] local authorities have hinted at plans to alter the licensing regulations that allow clubs to open for 22 h per day.[6] Suggestions at present would allow for clubs to open at noon.[7] Clubs may not open before 8 a.m.

On 29 December 2012, Space opened its first affiliate at Balnerio Cambori, on Santa Catarina, Brazil, named Space B. Cambori.[8]

From nightclub waster to world champion: The amazing story of Stuey Hall

Hall in action against Malinga (Getty) and sporting the gold and his battle wounds (PA)

I will open this piece with the date Saturday 21/12/2013.

That night will go down in history for boxing in the North East of England as Stuart Hall became the first man from Darlington to win a world title, picking up the IBF world bantamweight strap against the incredibly game South African Vusi Malinga at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

As well as being Darlos first world titlist, Hall is only the second world champion from the whole region; and the North East's only previous world champion, Glenn McCrory, was standing in Halls corner for support.

Hall had a lot more backing from his loyal fans as the crowd went wild for his entrance, many of them shouting his name an hour before he actually entered the ring.

Malinga was carried to the ring on the shoulders of one of his training team and before the first bell sounded, it was clear that Hall was going to have his work cut out for him. The African looked in great shape and after two previous world title attempts he was not fazed by the raucous atmosphere.

After a brutal 12-round war, both camps celebrated - but there was only one winner, and the crowd knew it.

Hall's fairytale victory marked the culmination of a remarkable journey for a man who spent his 20s, by his own admission, wasting his life away in the nightclubs of Ibiza.

That move to Europe's most infamous party spot was back in the summer of 2000: after becoming disillusioned with amateur boxing after being on the wrong end of a string of bad decisions, Hall headed for the Balearic island:

"I chose Ibiza because of its reputation as a party island," he said at the weekend. "It certainly didn't disappoint."
