NEW YORK, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --ISLE OF DREAMS, a major new electronic music festival that gives music lovers the chance to dance somewhere different, delving deeper into the burgeoning underground scenes of Switzerland, Turkey and Israel, will feature the biggest international artists alongside the best local dj talent. Confirmed artists include: Above & Beyond, Alesso, Apollonia, Avicii, Axwell, Calvin Harris, Chuckie, Fedde Le Grand, Gareth Emery, Jamie Jones, Nervo, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Pete Tong, R3hab, Sebastian Ingrosso, Sasha, Steve Aoki and Zedd to mention a few. More artists are being added every day.

Each event will take place over a three day period in August 2014 and be the major electronic music event of that country. Stages will be hosted by Cocoon, Paradise and Sankeys. All three events will be held in spectacular natural locations, crowning the natural beauty of summer and highlighting simple pleasures nature, music and people coming together. In Antalya, Turkey music fans will enjoy 'the ultimate electronic beach festival in Europe', in Israel, partygoers can dance by the biblical Sea of Galilee. In Switzerland clubbers will enjoy the biggest electronic event hosted in Switzerland at a pristine, magical site.

ISLE OF DREAMS is inspired by the music and culture of the isle of Ibiza and will encompass all genres of electronic music from the global stars of EDM to the underground, experimental and local DJ's with endless possibilities under the infinite beat of electronic music. Every festival will be unique, with stages individually designed, but each will have the look and feel of the magical isle of Ibiza, with slightly different line ups that also include the cream local DJs by country.

ISLE OF DREAMS is produced by Marcel Avram, the legendary pioneer of global music touring and one of the world's most successful international concert promoters for over 40 years and is the brainchild of Ibiza veterans Danny Whittle and Mark Netto of IBZ ENTERTAINMENT. Frankie Knuckles, a legend in the world of dance music and one of the inventors of house music, a steady, beat-driven style played in nightclubs all over the world, died unexpectedly at his Chicago home on Monday. He was 59.

By the mid-1990s, house music was so mainstream that a song by Frankie Knuckles was played in a commercial for Lipton Iced Tea. But it wasn't always that way. Knuckles, born Francis Nicholls in the Bronx, started in the dance music underground. When he was just 18, he got a job as a DJ at a major destination for gay men the Continental Baths in Manhattan. That's also where Bette Midler and Barry Manilow got their starts. In an interview with the BBC two years ago, Knuckles described it as a world unto itself.

"It was more than just a bath house," he said. "There was a boutique. There was an Olympic-sized swimming pool. There was a theater room. There was a salon."

And a dance floor where Knuckles worked eight-hour shifts.

"A lot of people would check in on Friday night and they wouldn't check out until Monday morning," Knuckles said. "They were on their way to work."

Knuckles' signature sets were not about explosive non-stop energy. He structured them, he once said, like stories with internal logic and a certain moody momentum.

Though he got his start in New York, Knuckles became one of the faces of dance music in another city: Chicago. He moved there in his 20s and quickly began working at a new club.

"He was the main DJ he was the only DJ at a club called The Warehouse," says Charles Matlock, another Chicago DJ, who spoke to NPR last year about the origins of Chicago house. "That club ended up lending its name to this genre of music."
