Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton is set to release a new memoir this June. Reuters pic, April 10, 2014. Hillary Clinton, the former US secretary of state who is contemplating a second run for the White House, will release a new memoir on June 10, her publisher announced yesterday.

A website owned by Simon & Schuster was allowing users to sign up and pre-order the book, which the publisher said would consist of "candid reflections about key moments during her time as secretary of state as well as her thoughts about how to navigate the challenges of the 21st century".

The book, and a likely summer signing tour, would serve to boost the already substantial profile of the 66-year-old presumed frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.

Although political action committees like Ready For Hillary have been established to support her candidacy and conservative groups have sprung up to counter the Clinton narrative she has refused to say whether she is running.

But at an event on Tuesday Clinton made the rare public admission that she was considering it, noting she was "deeply honoured" that people were urging her to seek the presidency.

"I am thinking about it," she said, "but I'm going to continue to think about it for a while."

Clinton's previous autobiography, "Living History", about her time as first lady to then-president Bill Clinton, became a worldwide bestseller in 2003.

A biography "HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton" was published earlier this year. AFP, April 10, 2014.

Hillary Clinton: Still "thinking" about running in 2016

Maybe Hillary Clinton should just start gluing a sign to her forehead during public appearances: "No, I still haven't decided whether to run for president, please don't ask."

The former secretary of state spoke at a marketing conference in San Francisco on Tuesday night, and she was again quizzed about the topic on everyone's mind: Will she run for president in 2016?

"I am obviously flattered and deeply honored to have people ask me and people encourage me," she replied. "And I am thinking about it, but I am going to continue to think about it for a while."

"I'm actually here hoping to get some marketing advice," she joked. "I think there's a lot that I could learn and apply."

Recent polls show Clinton would be an overwhelming favorite to secure the Democratic nomination, and that she'd be a strong contender in the general election as well. But she said Tuesday that political considerations about the horserace should take a back seat to substance.

"The hard questions are not 'Do you want to be president? Can you win?'" she said. "The hard questions are 'Why? Why would you want to do this and...what can you offer that would make a difference?"

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Thursday at an event sponsored by the Center for American Progress that the U.S. is "careening ...

"To see people arguing about letting us default on our debt -- I mean, really -- and things that were just so beyond the pale," she said. "You had to ask yourself - what kind of country do they really want? What is their plan, what is their vision? And so if you're going to compete in this arena, you have to be able to put forward your competing purpose and vision."

She also reminded the audience of the importance of the 2014 midterms, saying the fate of efforts like immigration reform could rest on the results of the congressional elections in November.

Hillary Clinton embarks on busy three-state swing

Washington (CNN) Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton heads to the West Coast this week for a string of paid speaking engagements in California, Nevada and Oregon.

CNN was first to report the trip back in January, when it was announced that Clinton the favorite to win the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 would keynote a marketing event in San Francisco, headline a speaking tour in San Jose and talk health care with a group in San Diego.

Since the report, Clinton has beefed up her itinerary with a speech to a Portland, Oregon based international women's group, as well as a scrap metal and recycling conference in Las Vegas.

As is true with nearly every trip Clinton takes, the travel is sure to spark talk about whether the former first lady and former senator will run for president in 2016. In the past month, Clinton has stepped deep into foreign and domestic politics during her appearances, especially issues that are in the new or being debated in Washington.

Clinton's trip starts on Tuesday at The Marketing Nation Summit, a three-day meeting of marketing experts from across the country at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The speech is being put on by Marketo, a company that makes software for marketing departments in all kinds of companies. The conference of around 5,000 people costs attendees upwards of $1,195 to attend.

Clinton will then head to Portland, Oregon where she will keynote the 2014 International Speakers Series for the World Affairs Council of Oregon on April 8. The events theme is "Women Changing the World," and organizers expect Clinton to address international women's issues in front of the 3,000 person audience.

Both of Clinton's appearance in San Francisco and Portland were at one point closed to the press. But earlier this month, organizers for both events opened them to the press after getting the go-ahead from Clinton's aides.

Her next event is on Thursday, where Clinton will keynote The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries annual conference in Las Vegas. ISRI is the trade association that represents the scrap recycling industry in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The event brings around 6,000 people together and is billed as the largest gathering of recyclers in the world. Never before has there been such a must-attend scrap recycling event as ISRI2014, said Chuck Carr, vice president of member services for ISRI.

Later that night in San Jose, California, Clinton will be part of the Unique Lives & Experiences speaker series. Clinton's speech is being billed as a "special event" for the group and Howard Szigeti, the event's promoter, said in January that the former first lady was booked because of her life story and the "crowds she can command."
