I've watched as the News Sentinel, Knoxville Police Department and Knoxville's socialist (at best) mayor have advocated violating the law. Title 18/USC 1324 is very clear about what is a violation of law in advocating for illegal immigration.
Whether any of the above-mentioned entities will admit the truth, they have violated the law of the land in practice as well as intent. I wonder what the response of the chief would be if I were stopped for a violation and claimed the same rights he and his department are bestowing on illegal immigrants.
This mindset is unacceptable for a nation that wishes to survive. It was almost amusing watching the chief of the KPD be emasculated in public. Being told he cannot enforce the law of the land should be his first clue he needs to leave his post. He took an oath to enforce these laws, and if he won't or can't do this, it's time for him to be a man and resign.
I do not expect anything but these types of political shenanigans from the current mayor. She shows nothing but disrespect for our nation, this state and her own town. Maybe it's time for her to take her prejudicial mindset back to where it came from.
I'm equally amazed (not really) the News Sentinel would advocate for violation of the law. I would like to see all three made an example of publicly. Where the law is manipulated in this manner, we have no rule of law but anarchy.
Do you ever wonder why we are having such a hard time combating the problems in the city proper? It's a byproduct of selective law enforcement. Until the people of Knoxville get tired of this type of corruption from their elected mayor, their police chief and the hometown newspaper, we will continue to get the same disgraceful results we have all said we don't want. Wake up, citizens, and hold these disreputable entities accountable for their illegal actions.

Many people say Betsy DeVos wasthe worst possible choice for secretary of education. The only Republican senators who voted not to confirm her were Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. These two senators were the only ones who had the guts to stand up and do the right thing. Sadly even U.S. Sen. LamarAlexander, a former secretary of education, voted to confirm DeVos. He of all people should know that this countrys ability to compete in a global economy requires strong and qualified leadership in education.
Is this truly the best we can do? Such shameful capitulation to partisan politics by Republicans confirms three things: Their total lack of concern for the future of our schools and the education of our children;their determination to favor partisan politics over whats best for our country; and that what matters most to our president and Republicans in Congress is how rich you are.
Ive heard some people say there has never been a secretary of education as unqualified as DeVos. She has never sent her children to a public school, never attended a PTA meeting, never served on a school board. But that didnt keep her from being confirmed. After all, shes a billionaire. Yet any teacher in Tennessee is more qualified than she is. So sad.
