Germany’s Migrant Crisis: ‘By 2060 There Will Be No Germany as … – Sputnik International

This week, Germany's Interior Ministry released its 2016 crime figures, showing a dramatic increase inviolent crime, including a 14.3% rise inmurder and manslaughter, a 12.7% rise inrape and sexual assaults, and a 9.9% increase inserious assaults overthe previous year. The figures showed that illegal immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers were suspected ofhaving committing 174,438 crimes, a whopping 52.7% increase overthe previous year.

Germany watchers say there's a clear connection betweenthis increase incrime and Chancellor Angela Merkel's open door policy towardimmigrants. German media, meanwhile, is considering whether the statistics will affect her chances inSeptember's parliamentary elections.

Commenting onthe migrant crisis facing Germany and the rest ofEurope, RIA Novosti contributor and Europe observer Igor Pshenichnikov recalled that "observing the situation withrefugees inEurope overthe last ten or fifteen years, it can be argued that the authorities ofEuropean countries did not set outto confront the influx ofimmigrants."

"The Europeans continued tooperate underthis paradigm even atthe moment, two years ago, when the flow ofmigrants suddenly turned intoa tsunami, inconnection withthe wars inLibya, Syria and Iraq. It took some time beforeGerman authorities, who showed the most favorable attitudes towardimmigrants, came torealize the mistake they made in2015, when they declared all migrants welcome."

But chalking it all downto some kind of' mistake' isn't correct, Pshenichnikov noted. Behind Berlin's logic were macroeconomic calculations which went beyondthe interests ofordinary Germans.

The report explained that Germany's current fertility rates 160 births per 100 women, was far belowthat which would be necessary toreproduce the population (which requires a fertility rate of210 children per 100 women). Accordingly, the German government calculated that the country 'needs' an estimated 300,000 migrants new migrants each year, inorder topreserve economic stability upto 2060.

"It's obvious," Pshenichnikov noted, "that withoutlaborers the economy will not work."

"But it's not so difficult toimagine what this will all lead toby 2060, either. If Chancellor Merkel's macroeconomic calculations are correct, the German economy will not experience shortages toits working population." However, if the migration trends continue, bythe time 2060 rolls around, "there will be much fewer actual Germans, forwhom all this is all supposedly being calculated, thanthere are today."

Even the simplest calculation of300,000 migrants per year means over12 million new arrivals by2060 tocomplement Germany's population of81 million. "But this calculation does not consider the difference inbirthrates betweenGermans and migrants, nor the fact that in2015-2016 alone, Berlin had 'fulfilled its migration plan' fornearly a decade."

These trends threaten tobring withthem tectonic changes toGermany's ethnic, culture and religious traditions aswell, Pshenichnikov stressed. Today, the analyst recalled, likemost EU members, Germany is facing the lowest birthrates inits history. "One ofthe main reasons forthisis the radical change" that has been observed "in Europe's cultural and religious traditions, or rather, their dissolution intothe semi-official ideology ofurban individualism," he added.

The resulting clash betweenthe cultural, social and religious norms that these people bring withthem and those ofGermany's native population inevitably lead tomisunderstandings and conflicts, the analyst added.

"For instance, why did the immigrants show themselves insuch a striking manner duringlast year's New Year's Eve celebrations inGermany particularly inthe infamous Cologne 'night ofrape'? Because they were brought upin different, more severe traditions, and consider Europeans, withtheir gender freedoms, tobe [a civilization that is] 'finished', fromthe moral standpoint, and thus not deserving ofrespect."

Pshenichnikov emphasized that it's "for the same reason that it doesn't seem likely that immigrants will mix significantly withthe Europeans: the gulf betweenthe cultures and religions ofthe East and Europe is simply too wide. The newcomers not only do not wish tobe integrated intothe local culture; they deeply despise it assomething decadent and declining."

The question, Pshenichnikov laments, is "who will this economic capital be left to?"

Tackle religious extremism by addressing migrant crisis, Egypt conference hears – The National

CAIRO // Religious fundamentalism will continue to flourish if poverty, disease and the needs of refugees are not addressed, the audience at the International Peace Conference in Cairo was told.

The gathering, co-organised by Al Azhar and the UAE-based Muslim Council of Elders, came three weeks after bombings on Coptic churches in Egypt killed at least 45 people.

Its purpose was to call upon followers of different faiths to trust each other and work together to denounce extremism and promote peace. The conference drew political and spiritual figures from around the world.

The overriding message of the two-day event, which began on Thursday, was that offering citizenship to refugees and tackling wealth inequality was essential in thwarting the appeal of extremism.

Dr Mostafa Hegazi, a former adviser to the interim Egyptian president, Adly Mansour, said that povertys ramifications were not only felt financially but also had profound effects on peoples rationality.

"It leads to a poverty of thought, imagination and capacity," said Dr Hegazi, who is also the founder of an Egyptian think tank focused on issues of justice.

The link between violent extremism and extreme poverty is well established and inclined individuals to become racist and nations to resort to war, he said.

"Isnt it high time we tackled this serious institutional problem," he said.

"People are not machines that are forced to produce. Its time we educate people before they become cogs in the employment machine."

Rev Olav Fykse, general secretary of the World Council of Churches, said that extending citizenship to those in need would serve to provide people with the protection and rights that all people deserved, regardless of their backgrounds.

"Different people should have the same basis of security for their lives and their childrens lives," he said.

"We need something solid and clear as a platform of our lives together."

Basic human needs such as food, water, security, health, education and freedom to believe were all needed to ensure harmonious communities, he said.

Bishop Bola, who was representing Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, called for further inclusion in communities.

"The colonial mentality worldwide has to end, such as is happening in Palestine," the bishop said.

The Coptic bishop appealed to countries to come to the aid of the oppressed and to narrow the gap between the rich and poor nations.

"I call on nations to address poverty because it is a fertile ground for violent environments," the bishop said.

The conference concluded yesterday with Pope Franciss visit to Al Azhar, the global seat of Sunni Muslim learning, the first visit there by a Roman Catholic pope.

The other side of the illegal immigration debate – Chicago Tribune

President Donald Trump has decided that America will remain within the NAFTA trade partnership with Canada and Mexico for now, but he wants to renegotiate the terms of the partnership so as to further benefit American trade interests. As we consider trade relations among the NAFTA trade partners, it is appropriate to explore the connection between our trade relations with Mexico and the raging debate about illegal Mexican immigration.

For many years, there has been extensive debate about illegal immigration from Mexico and how American authorities should deal with it. There has also been extensive debate about the economic value and costs that Mexican immigrants here illegally pose to American businesses, labor markets and social institutions.

Yet, there has been little to no public discussion about the economic factors that have led the people of Mexico to flee their homeland to illegally enter the United States in the first place. As the president of the richest nation in the world seeks further trade benefits from its poorest NAFTA trade partner, I would like to better understand why Mexico is in its current economic situation, and what American and Mexican leaders can do about it.

Many Americans have voiced strong opposition to the illegal migration of Mexicans into America, and I bet that many Mexicans, if given the choice, would probably prefer to live, work and prosper in their own country. In this regard, there would be a mutual benefit to both Mexicans and many Americans if we would expand the public discussion from curbing illegal immigration to enacting beneficial policies that allow Mexican citizens to thrive in their homeland and throughout the NAFTA trade region. I dont know the answer to this issue, but I do have the following questions:

1. What kind of trade agreement do we have with Mexico, where thousands of Mexican men, women and children are motivated to risk their lives to illegally enter the United States for low-skilled, low-paying jobs, only to be treated like second-class citizens when they arrive?

2. Why does Mexico, which is the biggest trade partner to the most powerful nation in the world, not have the industrial capacity to employ many of its citizens?

3. What are American and Mexican leaders doing to improve economic conditions in Mexico, so that Mexican people dont feel the need to come to the United States illegally?

4. As the United States continues to espouse the virtues of capitalism and free trade, why are skilled Mexican professionals not allowed to work in their fields in America and throughout the NAFTA trade zone? The public perception is that Mexican immigrants here illegally have little education and few skills. Yet, there are highly trained Mexican professionals doctors, educators, lawyers, etc. who are working in America as low-skilled laborers because there are limited work opportunities in Mexico for professionals to earn decent wages, and because the governing bodies of American and Canadian trade groups, such as the American Medical Association or the American Bar Association, do not have parity agreements with Mexico. As a result, Mexican professionals are unable to legally practice their professions in America or throughout the NAFTA trade zone without redundant training.

Rather than remaining in the doldrums of narrow-minded and protectionist rhetoric, expanding the public policy dialogue on Mexico could lead to trade policies that mutually benefit the United States, while helping Mexico to prosper. At the very least, for those Americans who deride Mexican illegal immigration, Ive heard that a strong Mexican economy and job market is a great way to curb such behavior.

Sanctuary Creep – National Review

The Left is determined to make the whole of the United States into a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights issued a statement (Gail Heriot and Kirsanow dissenting) remonstrating ICE for arresting illegal immigrants at courthouses. The Commissions ostensible rationale is that [c]ourthouses are often the first place individuals interact with local governments...for resolution of civil matters, including family custody issues, housing, public benefits, and numerous other aspects integral to an individuals life. By that standard no illegal immigrant should be arrested at the DMV, health clinic, local housing authority, or police station either.

The Commissions approach would convert illegal immigrants into a protected class treated more favorably than others who are in violation of the law. Police often arrest U.S. citizens at courthouses for violations of laws other than those related to immigration. Mere presence in a courthouse does not confer immunity from arrest to anyone in violation of the law.

The Commission also argues that courthouse arrests of illegal immigrants will cause illegal immigrants to be more reluctant to be witnesses or report crimes. Once again, the same calculus pertains to U.S. citizens who may be in current violation of the law, yet no exemption is available to them.

The law is the law is the law. Except for the Left and their favored groups.

Open Borders Leader: DHS Illegal Immigrant Victims Unit Is ‘Despicable’ – Breitbart News

SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER

During an interview with 89.3 KPCC, Chris Newman with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network blasted the mere creation of DHS Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office, which DHS Secretary John Kelly unveiled this week with American victims.

Victims are not more harmed or need greater healing when the perpetrator of those crimes are not citizens, Newman said. This is clearly not an earnest effort. So you do have to ask whats going on here. I think it seems pretty clear that this office is designed to gin up fear as part of President Trumps overall war on non-white immigrants in the United States. I think its about, unfortunately, the racist exploitation of grief and tragedy. I think that the office is despicable.

Newman also said the office was not about illegal immigrant crime victims, but had everything to do with politics.

Its not just for people here illegally. I think its for the entire foreign born population in the United States, Newman said. This is an office thats designed to its a propaganda office. Its politically motivated. It has nothing to do with public safety or restorative justice. It has less to do with providing services to victims it has more to do with spreading fear of the foreign born population in the United States.

Despite Newmans claims that VOICE will not offer much help to Americans who have suffered due to illegal immigration, Jessica Vaughn with the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) says the office will finally give voice to marginalized victims.

The creation of this office is aimed at supporting people who in the past have been marginalized and also faced real practical difficulties in getting information out of our immigration bureaucracy about the offenders who victimized them or their families, Vaughn said. Every law enforcement agency practically has an office for victim advocacy.

And I know many of the people who pushed for this office and the struggles they went through trying to get information about what was going to happen to the person who was responsible for their loved ones death or other crimes that occurred, Vaughn continued.

Vaughn says that unlike all other law enforcement agencies, before VOICE, there was no route for illegal immigrant crime victims to take.

ICE had no mechanism to do that. They couldnt get notifications if people were released, which would be customary from a law enforcement agency, Vaughn said. They couldnt find out what the process was for peoples immigration hearings and things that they were entitled to attend, but couldnt get information on. Thats the main purpose of this new office is to help them navigate the immigration bureaucracy and get information that they should be able to get about people who caused harm to their family.
