Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman Says ‘Thug’ Is Like Using ‘N-Word’ (Video)

Seattle Seahawks player Richard Sherman held a press conference today in Seattle where he compared being called a "thug" to being called the "N-Word."

After Sunday's NFC Championship game against San Francisco, Sherman gave a brief, but memorable interview in which he razzed 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Critics of Sherman repeatedly called him a "thug," notes Salon.com.

The only reason it bothers me is because it seems like its the accepted way of calling somebody the N-word nowadays, stated Sherman (video below).

Its like everybody else said the N-word, and then they say thug' and thats fine," added Sherman. "Thats where its kind of, you know, it kind of takes me aback. And its kind of disappointing, because they know. Whats the definition of a thug, really?

Ive fought that my whole life just coming from where I come from, stated Sherman. Just because you hear Compton, you hear Watts, you hear cities like that, you just think thug, hes a gangster, hes this, that, and the other."

Deadspin.com reported that following Shermans post-game interview, the word thug was used on television news broadcasts a whopping 625 times on Monday.
