CHARACTERS from popular childrens books such as the Harry Potter series and Alices Adventures in Wonderland came together for a special tea party as part of World Book Day on Thursday.

Youngsters in a range of colourful costumes enjoyed the event at The Hive on March 5, which modelled on the Mad Hatters Tea Party from Lewis Carrolls classic and the Disney adaption.

Activities included a Wheres Wally hunt, story time, games and prizes as well as crafts and a fancy dress parade.

Luckily, unlike the event thrown by the Mad Hatter in the 1865 book, party-goers werent made to switch places at a moments notice.

World Book Day, now in its 18th year, is an annual event founded by the United Nations working to encourage children and young people to appreciate reading.
