WAXAHACHIE Community members can dress up and discover inner beauty through a sip of tea and strands of pearls at the third annual The Beauty in Me Tea Party this weekend.

Hosted by SWAGG Programs, a foster care nonprofit, the vintage tea party is meant to mentor young ladies in their personal confidence, while also serving as a gathering to celebrate femininity in style.

The girls get all dressed up and fancy in their gloves, hats, purses, and pearls, and we just have a nice tea party for them, explained Nikeesia Ranson, founder and CEO of SWAGG Programs.

We talk about self-esteem, and its really just to explore the beauty thats inside of them, she described. We identify characteristics about themselves and others that allow them to feel confident and boost their self-esteem to pull out all the good thats inside of them.

Held at the Avenue Church, Ranson invites girls within the community, ages six and up, to attend the classy celebration.

Weve opened it up to others because we talk to our girls about using their social skills and its one activity that gives them the opportunity to do that, Ranson articulated. So any grandparent raising grandchildren, or any relative thats raising younger girls, or any girls that are out there in foster care or a homely situation that needs a boost of confidence - get all dressed up and come on."

With Chick-Fil-A and Subway sponsoring the event, fresh baked cookies and tasty hors doeuvres will be provided, along with guest speakers speaking on grace and self-confidence.

We ask for all the girls to come out and just have a nice fancy time, Ranson encouraged. Were going to talk about the origin of the pearl, and the girls get a strand of pearls. We'll also talk about fashion and how to decorate. We'll give fashion tips, and the girls will get a little goodie bag with a lot of little fun things in them."

From style tips to games, and a variety of teas to sample, the free event is sure to be an enjoyable time together.

We hope that each girl leaves feeling more confident about themselves, and realizing the beauty God has already placed inside of them, and let it shine in our community, homes, and anywhere they go, Ranson finished.
