UKIP, Breitbart, and the Tea Party in the UK | Charlotte Henry

Since launching in London, the website Breitbart London, a website I used to contribute to, has given a lot of positive coverage to UKIP. Breitbart founder, the late Andrew Breitbart, was a supporter of the Tea Party movement. It seems that the London arm of the Breitbart operation are being teamed with UKIP, in moves to help bring the Tea Party movement to the UK.

This morning, in the wake of another Tory defection, former MP Louise Mensch has been highlighting a lot of the links between UKIP, the US Tea Party, and Breitbart, including:

It was also revealed that the name TEA Party as a political party with the Electoral Commission in 2010 but senior UKIP activists.*

At first I was sceptical. I thought that perhaps this was a novelty party free tea for everyone, that kind of thing. Then I started looking into the official officers for this Tea Party.

After failing in that bid McGough ran for UKIP, under their pseudonym Fresh Choice for London, for the GLA constituency of Brent and Harrowagainst me!

The official Party Leader is Andrew George Smith, who has stood for UKIP both as a PCC candidate in Essex and to be a MEP in the East of England in 2009.

These are people with obvious and strong connections with UKIP, but not well enough to be known hugely by the general public. It means they are perfect people to be entrusted with registering and leading another political entity with connections to UKIP.

A quick look on Breitbart London makes it very clear just who they are backing, with stories very often giving support to UKIP figures. With the sites connection to both the Tea Party in America, and UKIP in the UK, it looks like the move towards a UK Tea Party is well under way.

Louise Mensch has also pointed out this from an interview with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon:
