1864 tea party this Saturday

KNUTSFORD -- In keeping with this being the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, the Knutsford Womens Institute is holding a special tea, 1864 style.

The 1864 tea party will be held at the Institutes community center this Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m.

The official opening celebrations will be held at 2 p.m.

A slideshow of Knutsford properties from 1864 onward will cycle throughout the program as will one showing properties photographed this year. The community and the Knutsford W.I. have both been active with the Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society.

There will also be a collage of all of the institutes presidents since the organizations formation in 1928.

The WI received a PEI2014 grant to help plan and host the special tea.

Refreshments will be served and there will be crafts, games and stories throughout the afternoon. The program will conclude with evening entertainment.
