Fact checking social networking posts

Theres no doubt social networking is an exploding trend.

Just one example is that Facebook now boasts over a billion users.

Networking sites, however, are lit up with rumors. Some are true but some are false.

Every time you log into a social networking site your screen is filled with information.

"Social media is something that's so readily accessible to everybody, social networker Sean McCartney said. Anybody with an idea and a keyboard can type up what you want and people view it as credible but a lot of times its really not."

Not everyone checks to see if the information is true, but Kyle Lowe does.

Hes an avid social media user.

Kyle says one reason he gets online is to keep up to date with current events. Often what he finds is false information.

"A lot of like celebrity deaths, there's a lot of those that are wrong on the internet all the time, Kyle said.
