Being A Rockstar On Social Media – Eleni Tavantzis
I recently had the absolute pleasure of speaking to a social media rock star on my podcast,All The Social Ladies.EleniTavantzis is the Senior Manager, Social Media Marketing & Public Relations at Lilly Pulitzer. She has been in the social media space a long time and says it comes down to magic sauce, a combination of being in the right place at the right time and being unafraid to do some professional stalking! I wanted to share her story with you and a few pearls of her wisdom.
Elenis Story
Elenistarted writing copy for QVC straight out of college. Writing was her talent and favorite skill to use, but it wasnt her passion. Her solution: Try a few things in different departments, look at the people you admire higher up, and figure out how they got there. By having the courage to speak to these people,Elenifound herself on a research task force for the first Facebook page at QVC which led to her becoming the first social media employee there. Her advice in growing your career is to make yourself available, express an active interest and make those important connections. Take advantage of the people in your company and build your network. Since then, social media at QVC has grown exponentially, and whenElenimoved on in June 2013, there were over 100 employees in social media alone. She truly did leave behind a great legacy.

How didElenimanage to build such an amazing social presence and convince the C-Suite to put more than 100 jobs into social media? On my podcast,Elenijokes about the deck she presented to the C-Suite titled, The Convincing & The Plan. All jokes aside, there are four key things that enabled her to put social media at the forefront for QVC:

Having this knowledge helps her target consumers in a meaningful and engaging way without inundating the feed. The feedback from campaigns has been really positive and shows the power of listening. You can probably tell thatEleniis an advocate of rallying loyal fans, wanting to hug each one even more and show them the love! Whether its releasing a collection earlier, showcasing a campaign earlier, or surprising and delighting Lilly fans with gifts to spread the sunshine,Eleniwants to share her thanks.
