Kaduna APC to conduct ward congresses -Chairman

The Kaduna State interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Wednesday said the party was ready for the April 5 election in all the 255 wards in the state.

Baba-Ahmed told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna that the congress would elect ward executives and delegates for local councils and state congresses.

According to him, arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

He said that the state chapter of the party had already received guideline for the congresses from its Headquarter and pledged that it would be implemented accordingly.

Baba-Ahmed assured that the committee set up to carry out the exercise was working hard to conduct a hitch free exercise.

He said that the ward congresses would be by direct primaries, where all registered party members would elect the ward officials through open secret ballot.

The chairman also said the party had set up an Appeals Committee to settle issues that could arise from the congress.
