A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Chief Ayo Akande, has condemned the deployment of task force on Lagos roads by the Federal Government.

Akande, in a statement on Thursday, alleged that the deployment of the task force was one of the grand designs of the PDP-led Federal Government to rig the 2015 elections in the state.

The Federal Government had said that the task force officials, who are part of the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme of the Presidency, were been deployed to control traffic on Lagos roads.

The officials of the task force and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority reportedly clashed on Monday.

The APC leader, however, faulted the Federal Government on the deployment, saying the move was an attempt to provoke Lagos residents.

He wondered why the Federal Government did not deploy such able-bodied men to man the roads leading to local government areas which had been taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.

Akande said, The PDP must be joking if it thinks this method of rigging will make them win the 2015 elections, most especially the governorship election. I believe sincerely that there is no vacancy for the PDP candidates in the Lagos State Government in any capacity in the forthcoming elections, no matter their ploy.

The presence of these men in the peaceful Lagos mega city is suspicious and pregnant with meaning and I believe the Federal Government will accept responsibility for their actions when the chips are down.

The APC leader, however, cautioned against violence, noting that there were many ways to deal with the Federal Governments provocation without being violent.

The Lagos State Government is the landlord, so the tenant has to renew his tenancy or quit or conform to the dictates of the landlord. I advise Lagosians and other well-meaning progressives in the state to be vigilant in order not to allow the PDP and its cohorts scuttle the dividends of democracy put in place by the APC government in the state, he said.
