Kathmandu is an Indian restaurant situated on Santa Eulalias famous Restaurant Street. Its well-known for its wide range of cuisine as well as its great ambience and the friendliness of its proprietors. Ibiza Spotlight went eagerly to check it out!

Santa Eulalia gets very busy during the summer months, so arrive in plenty of time to find a place to park. Restaurant Street, running parallel behind Santa Eulalias main road is pedestrianized and the nearby blue bays only allow 2 hours maximum parking, so I recommend the underground public car-park next to the bus station. Another option is the fast, air-conditioned bus from Ibiza Town which costs only 2 and runs every half an hour, there and back.

I arrived in Santa Eulalia one beautiful Ibiza evening at 7pm to find the street bustling with a colourful array of locals and holidaymakers eating, shopping, chatting and laughing. What a great atmosphere!

Soon my friend arrived and we took a seat outside on the street terrace, settling down for a spot of good old people-watching. Our friendly waitress, Vicky, was over straight away to take a drinks order. In a flash, I had a nice, chilled glass of very decent house white in one hand and a delicious fresh popadom in the other. The popadoms came with a great range of typical Indian dips and sauces. Yum! Ordering some Onion Bhajis, I perused the menu which offered a large selection of both classic favorites and house specialities, not to mention an impressive vegetarian selection.

My friend, to my surprise, knew what she wanted before the menu arrived. Did she have secret superpowers I wondered?! Actually yes she whispered. I have x-ray vision, but thats not how I knew the menu! We giggled and she confided that she comes often to Kathmandu and loves it because of the enormous range of great quality food and very decent prices.

In fact, she continued I often come to this Indian restaurant with visiting friends and family. One of the dishes Im ordering, the Nepali Momo has been so popular, it has sent my highly impressed friends searching high and low back home to find it again!

A high compliment indeed, coming from a woman with extremely high standards who eats out in Ibizas finest dining establishments on a daily basis. Well it came and she was right, it was fabulous! An authentic Nepali dish, it came served with dumplings made with minced meat in a wonderfully spicy Nepalese sauce.

The first year I ever came to stay in Ibiza for the summer, I went everywhere on a scooter. I always wonder whether that was one of the reasons I fell so head over heels in love with the island, seeing its majestic beauty, with the wind in my hair and a delighted smile on my face.

So when Legends Vespa Bike Tours asked Ibiza Spotlight to come for a 4 hour excursion on an immaculately restored vintage scooter, the answer was a resounding yes!

Located on the main road heading from Ibiza to San Antonio on the right, just after the huge Gros Mercat (thats wholesalers to you and me) its easy to find. You cannot park directly outside the garage, but there are two large car-parks nearby, either by the wholesalers or outside the Eroski supermarket a bit further up across the road.

I arrived for our tour at 4pm, excited to meet my vintage scooter. Owner and passionate creator of Legends Vespa Tours, Carlos, after extending a warm welcome, unveiled our authentic 1960s chariots with a grin. One word. WOW!!!

Gleaming chrome, polished mirrors, immaculate paintwork. The best, classic helmets. Soft, padded leather seats. Engines purring like kittens. I put on my ray-bans feeling like an extra from Quadrophenia, (without a doubt one of the coolest films ever). I remember wishing for a scooter back in the 1970s. In a flash of gratitude, I realized that finally, my wish had been granted. I was, if only for a day, sat on one of the coolest classic scooters in the known universe, about to explore one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Now thats what im talking about! High-five, fairy godmother!

We set off in glorious sunshine and headed for Santa Agnes. The tour takes about 4 hours and uses only country roads, so there's hardly any traffic to deal with. Within 2 minutes, we were leaving any kind of urban scenery behind. Ibizas long, ancient, winding roads began to reveal her naked magnificence, the fields bursting with poppies and forget-me-nots stretching their long stems above the smaller but no less vibrant competitors. Kilometres of evergreen forest draping itself luxuriantly over the rolling Ibiza mountains.

Hidden away on one of the back streets is Barnstorm Records a small independent music store.
