Marsh Pointe Elementary students are hosting their 2nd Annual 5K Kids run on Saturday to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of the Palm Beaches. At their first 5K last year, $3,670 was raised for the society. The run is open to all elementary students and their adults can join in for free. The school is at 12649 Ibiza Drive. WELL, this is exciting.

We're barely into April and the first Clyde boat party of the spring is upon us.

Despite being a world away from the sun-drenched booze cruises of Croatia and Ibiza, Glasgow's very own floating house-fests make up for it with well, just pure gallus-ness.

There will be many similar parties throughout the season, but this is a fine way to start.

The bill features two up and coming DJs who are - no exaggeration - Glasgow legends in the making. Jasper James is the Sub Club regular who was tipped by Jackmaster as one to watch in 2014, has had support from Skream on Radio 1 and whose gigs just keep getting bigger and better.

Barrientos is Glasgow Underground's Chilean-Scots prodigy: a fiercely intelligent, classically-trained studio genius who also makes some of the most blissful house coming out of Glasgow just now.

Do Anything You Wanna, his Pete Tong-endorsed new work with Illyus, and Los Suenos are the kind of jams that were made to be heard at a Caf Mambo sunset, if not a murky Clyde one.

Back on dry land, the party decants to Hope Street's Make Do.

Boat party attendees get in cheaper to the Glaswegian leg of LA house producer Le Youth's European Tour, which also features Waifs and Strays, The Shimmy and Don't Drop.

Always a hit is their midsummer street party in Shoreditch this year it promises slots from Pan-Pot and Josh Wink on Saturday June 21.

Half Baked

Started in east London back in 2009 by Remi Landaz and Bruno Ciaramicoli (who've now set up Number 90 bar in Hackney Wick), Half Baked basically invented Sunday afternoon partying. Their parties are always held in exclusive venues with an industrial style, which nail that 'not-particularly-legal' vibe and feature graffiti, fashion and photography collaborations, on third Sunday of every month plus bank holiday specials. Catch Bruno Pronsato and Thomas Melchior at a secret location on Sunday April 20.

GOLD Coast residents have backed calls to allow food, drinks and entertainment businesses to trade on the citys famous beaches but they have less than two days left to let the council know.

In an independent poll of 1217 residents, two thirds of those surveyed supported greater commercial access to parts of the Coasts 52km sandy strip.

WAVE OF SUPPORT FOR TRADING ON GOLD COAST BEACHES

The poll comes as Gold Coast City Council nears the end of a 24-day consultation on its Commercial Activities on Ocean Beaches Management Plan, which seeks to define the way business on beaches between Jumpinpin and Point Danger is managed.

Asked if they supported allowing commercial operations like food and beverage service and entertainment on certain designated Gold Coast beaches, 63.3 per cent of respondents to the ReachTel poll said yes, 25.8 per cent said no and 10.9 per cent were undecided.

The idea gained particular traction with locals aged 18-34, with 77.1 per cent supportive, while there was less emphatic backing from over-65s, although a majority (48.1 per cent) did support the principle.

Beach commercialisation falls under the councils Community and Cultural Development Committee.

Committee chairman Bob La Castra said his personal view on expanding commercial use of beaches was a clear no.

Im against any commercial activities on the beaches the position of the council has always been that way, although this council is more open to it and that concerns me, he said.

Caity: The shelves are also stocked with row upon row of pricey dildos. These, customers attempt to turn on and then, as soon as they shiver to life, drop, shrieking with delight. I could have stood in that store all day watching people drop dildos on the ground, but it was time for lunch.
