Hillary Clinton wraps up tour in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is wrapping up a five-city speaking tour and everywhere she goes people want to know if she is going to run for president in 2016. However, she's not spilling the beans.

An excited crowd greeted Clinton as she spoke at San Jose State University. Her focus was mostly on women and the need for equality.

"All most women need is a fighting chance to prove themselves," said Clinton.

The predominately female audience listened intently as Clinton said women still make 16 percent less than men in America. But the one question on everyone's mind was finally asked during the informal Q&A session.

The host, Larry Stone, said to Clinton, "If there is a major announcement you'd like to make regarding your future&"

Clinton hasn't made any announcements about her future political plans, including a run for the presidency in 2016, but there are those who don't want to see it happen, including a woman who threw a shoe at Clinton during her speech in Las Vegas earlier on Thursday.

In San Jose, those for and against Clinton were outside the event center tonight.

"If she is not stopped and challenged now, this is the first in a long line of betrayals," said Don Grundmann from the Constitution Party of California.

"It's time, it's past time that we have a woman take control and let's get it done," said Judy Pipkin from Ready For Hillary.

Clinton is expected to have earned as much as $1 million for these speaking engagements.

Video will begin in 5 seconds.

RAW VISION: A shoe has been thrown at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during a speech she was giving at a Las Vegas hotel.

A woman threw a shoe at Hillary Clinton on Thursday as the former secretary of state was delivering a speech at a Las Vegas hotel, but Clinton dodged it and continued with her remarks, a US Secret Service spokesman said.

Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie said the shoe-thrower was not a ticketed guest for Ms Clinton's speech at the Mandalay Bay hotel and had been spotted by Secret Service agents and hotel security guards before the incident.

"As agents and hotel security approached her she threw a shoe and was immediately taken into custody by the Secret Service and hotel security," Mr Ogilvie said.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper reported that the former first lady joked about the incident as she continued her speech to some 1000 people attending a metal recycling conference.

"Is that somebody throwing something at me?" Ms Clinton asked, according to the Review-Journal. "Is that part of Cirque du Soleil?"
