State Rep. Paul Pacheco, a Republican, and his Democratic challenger Catherine Begaye raised more than $55,000 over the last two months in their swing district race to represent part of northwest Albuquerque, most of Corrales and two precincts in Rio Rancho.

State house candidates

We are building this campaign with support from the community, not from the coffers of Big Oil & Gas, Begaye said. I am also honored to have the support of the late Speaker (Ben) Lujan through his campaign fund along with other strong advocates for this district like Ben Ray Lujn and Hector Balderas.

Begaye raised more than $37,000 between late June and Sept. 1, compared to just under $18,000 for Pacheco. She spent almost $36,000, more than twice as much as his nearly $15,000, according to campaign finance reports due Monday and available on the New Mexico Secretary of States website.

my re-election campaign filed our first General Election financial report in which we reflect a two-to-one advantage over my opponent. My current report reflects my campaign with $75,741.15 cash-on-hand for the remainder of the campaign, said Pacheco.

Begaye reported less than $38,000 remained in her campaign account.

The district includes a few neighborhoods within Rio Rancho, bounded by Sara Road, Southern Boulevard, NM 528 and Sabana Grande Avenue.

Republicans in other local state House races have a cash-on-hand advantage over their opponents.
