Big changes in the New Zealand local website development industry has meant that Open Source platforms are now becoming increasingly more attractive to NZ companies who need freedom of provider choice.

Why Do MediaCore Develop Websites on Joomla?

You may be asking why MediaCore have chosen to develop using the Joomla CMS system, and in all honesty it is not a hard question to answer at all.

MediaCore chose to use Joomla due to the fact that Joomla places total control and freedom into their customers hands. This means that any business that uses Joomla has total freedom to choose their provider of website services and to unlock the flexibility and growth features that Joomla CMS provides to any website.

MediaCore who have been working with Joomla over the last 8 years, have been pushing the boundaries of unique and bespoke website development using Joomlas powerful and flexible framework. Developing many functional and high level websites has given the team at MediaCore a skill set that has allowed them to provide competitive website design and development that beats out proprietary options hands down.

5 tips for dealing with the press

The following blog post, unless otherwise noted, was written by a member of Gamasutras community. The thoughts and opinions expressed are those of the writer and not Gamasutra or its parent company.

Theres a lot of words wrote about how to contact the press, lots of good words, lots of bad words, lots of dense words (Mikes post is great info but super, super dense to wade through, do click through the links at the bottom too) and The Bible.

Ive done words about press things myself in the past too (1), (2) but theres a few things its probably worth adding given some stuff Ive read recently and from the state of my own inbox. Let's start with the most important first.

You send review codes to the press for them to review your game.

I cant stress this hard enough, if you want someone to review your game, enable that.

Make as few steps between Id like you to review this game and hey, we can review this game for you as possible. The easiest way to do this is to provide them with a code or review copy off the bat.

I want you to review the game, here is the game. Ta da.

This is the single most obvious thing to do, yet in my experience its the single most overlooked one too.

Put yourself in the shoes of your average everyday hard hitting games journalist. You have ten minutes spare to look at something else. You have two emails sitting in your inbox. The first is a blurb for a game out today, "contact me for a review code" it says. The second is a blurb for a different game out today, "here's how you can download the game right now" it says.
