Democrats are often criticized for living in a bubble and some even say it cost them the 2016 election. So while the jury is out on if this will help or hurt Dems moving forward, it's sure to stir up quite a conversation.

Trump’s CPAC speech inspires ‘lock her up’ chant from 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton – AOL News

President Donald Trump's mere mention of Hillary Clinton's now infamous "deplorables" remark from the 2016 campaign sent the crowd at CPAC into a frenzy on Friday morning.

Chants of "lock her up" filled the auditorium at the Gaylord Convention Center after the president again defended his voters as "great Americans" against Clinton who during the presidential election said "half" of them are in what she called a "basket of deplorables"

"People came to vote and the media said 'where are they coming from?' These are hardworking great, great Americans. These are unbelievable people who have not been treated fairly. Hillary called them deplorable, they're not deplorable," said Trump.

As the conservative conference crowd then began chanting "lock her up," the president paused, shook his head, and seemed to gesture for the audience to settle down.

While he didn't directly address the call for the former secretary of state to be arrested, Trump did say: "Who would've thought that a word was gonna play so badly? That's the problem in politics; one wrong word and it's over."

"She also said irredeemable, but we won't mention that," Trump said interrupting the chants.

The "lock her up" chant became a popular mantra for Trump supporters over the course of the 2016 campaign, and could often be heard the billionaire businessman's rallies across the nation.

But after winning the presidency, Trump has softened on his pledge to seek legal action against his former rival, and in December when a crowd in Michigan broke out into the chant he attempted to put the issue to rest. "That plays great before the election ... nah, we don't care," said Trump.

A day after her controversial "deplorables" comment, then Democratic nominee Clinton expressed "regret," saying she was "grossly generalistic [sic], and that's never a good idea."

The president also spent a large part of his keynote address going after another popular target of his: the press.

Trump doubled down on his claim that the "FAKE NEWS media" is the "enemy of the American people," this time saying he plans to "do something about it."

"A few days ago, I called the fake news 'the enemy of the people', and they are. They are the enemy of the people," Trump said. "Because they have no sources. They just make them up where there are none."

Trump argued that the press makes up stories and makes up sources. "They shouldn't be allowed to use sources unless they use somebody's name. Let their name be put out there. Let their name be put out."

Many online were quick to point out that the president himself has a history of using unnamed sources, citing his past allegation that former President Barack Obama's birth certificate was fake.

Trump did however attempt to clarify his tweet calling the "FAKE NEWS media" the enemy, saying that he didn't call all media "the enemy of the people," but was only referring to the "fake news media."

"They're very dishonest people. In fact, covering my comments the dishonest media did not explain that I had called the fake news the enemy of the people. The fake news. They dropped the word 'fake'," he said.

In Trump's original tweet he labeled the "failing" New York Times, NBC News, ABC, CBS, and CNN as "fake news."

EXPOSED: Hillary Secretly Took Cash From Firm Who Won Shady $418M Kenyan Arms Deal – Radar Online

Hillary Clinton is off the campaign trail, but the scandals keep coming!

RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the disgraced politico secretly took cash from a New York-based weapon manufacturer one who coincidentally secured a shady $418 million deal on the last day of the Obama Administration!

A world exclusive Radar investigation uncovered troubling links between Clinton and L3 Technologies, an arms manufacturer that recently won a megabucks deal to provide 14 warplanes to Kenya. Other high-ranking Democrats such as John Kerry, the late Ted Kennedy and his son Patrick were also implicated in the probe.

According to Federal Election Commission records exclusively obtained by Radar, L3 Technologies political action committee directly donated to Clinton as far as back as 2005.

Whats more, Radar discovered, in other instances, L3s PAC (political action committee) contributed funds to other PACs that then funneled money to Clinton.

For instance, on April 23, 2007, and again on Feb. 21, 2008, L3s PAC donated $1,000 to BEST PAC, which then gave $2,300 to Clinton for President on Feb. 14, 2008, while she battled Barack Obama for the Democratic Partys presidential nomination.

Years later, L3 cashed in to the tune of nearly half a billion dollars with a bombshell deal.

This January, L3 Technologies was contracted to provide 12 warplanes, two trainer planes and services for missions to be waged against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group Al-Shabaab.

The sale was approved by the State Department, headed by then-Secretary of State John Kerry and privately advised to Congress on Jan. 19.

Shockingly, the deal was inked despite the fact that another arms company one founded by a U.S. Army veteran! had submitted a bid for $180 million, less than HALF of the tab billed by L3, according to critics.

Whats more, while L3 has reportedly NEVER before produced the sort of planes involved in the deal, the other, lower-cost company IOMAX USA, Inc. out of Mooresville, N.C. have made those very planes for years.

The deal has raised eyebrows among both Democrats AND Republicans on Capital Hill and has more than a few calling for a Congressional investigation.

My office has received credible allegations of faulty contracting practices, fraud, and unfair treatment surrounding this sale, said North Carolina congressman Ted Budd, a Republican.

Even more troubling links between L3 and Democratic leaders, including Hillary, have emerged as part of Radars probe.

For example, Federal Election Commission records show that in the years leading up to the deal, L3 also contributed to the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith, as well as to the late Ted Kennedy and his son, Patrick.

PHOTOS: Revenge! Donald Trump Fighting Back Against Hillary Clintons Smear Campaign

Between July 19, 2004, and Oct. 5, 2010, L3 donated $17,000 to both Kennedys and Kerry, according to FEC records unearthed by Radar.

But thats not all: Wall Street expertCharles Ortel exclusively told Radar about another suspicious tie between L3 and the Clintons.

The $13 billion-a-year defense giant was formed in 1997, Ortel said, by cobbling together aerospace and arms businesses originally owned by Loral, an aerospace and defense company headed by CEO Bernard L. Schwartz.

Schwartz, now 91, is one of Bill Clintons closest pals, according to multiple media reports.

Radar learned he previously showered Bill with $1.3 million in campaign donations and even celebrated his 71st birthday with the Clintons at the White House.

It was Schwartzs right hand man, Frank Lanza, who presided over L3s initial public stock offering.

My fraud tentacles went up when I saw L3s links to the Clintons, said Ortel.

Critics also are also enraged L3 landed the Kenya deal despite two major scandals in its history.

In May 2012, the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee found L3 used counterfeit parts from China in components installed in military transport planes deployed in Afghanistan.

The firm allegedly detected the problem in November 2010 and sent the components for tests that concluded they were suspected of being counterfeit.

PHOTOS: Hey, Big Spender! Hillary Clintons Most Staggering Campaign Expenses

But despite real fear that this could lead to disastrous consequences, the committee charged that L3 didnt alert the Air Force of the problem until September 2011.

In 2015, L3 paid $25.6 million to settle a civil fraud lawsuit slapped on the company by Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara, who alleged its officials had known since 2006 that weapons sights it manufactured for use in Iraq and Afghanistan malfunctioned in extreme temperature ranges.

L3 engaged in fraudulent double dealing by selling defective products to the men and women who risk their lives to protect our country. With their own sights focused exclusively on corporate profits, the defendants let our soldiers fight with defective sights on their weapons, Bharara charged at the time.

Added Ortel, That Barack Obama, a Nobel Laureate would cap his tenure as president by throwing out such a morsel as the Kenya deal to L3, given its record, falls somewhere along a continuum from sloppy to contemptible.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: How the ’90s crime rate hurt Hillary Clinton – SCNow

The 1994 crime bill that Bill Clinton signed into law came to haunt Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Bill Clinton signed the bill because of the fact that America faced soaring crime rates. This fact is validated by the polls that indicated that 37 percent of Americans claimed that crime was a big issue.

The bill contained several key provisions. For example, the law gave states federal money to hire 100,000 police officers on the streets. Also, it allocated dollars for states to build prisons. Another item protected women from domestic violence and punished perpetrators for using guns when they committed these acts. Also, the law required states to set up a sex offender registry by 1997.

The most controversial aspect of the law was to deny federal Pell grants to inmates, a move that eliminated their educational opportunities while in prison.

In 1994, Hillary Clinton jumped on the anticrime band wagon by calling criminals super predators. However, by 2016 the mood of the public changed on the crime issue. Several factors contributed to this phenomenon. First, the law has played a role in an explosion of the prison population! The United States has the highest prison population in the world.

This fact is clearly indicated when demographics are studied. Although Latinos make up 26 percent of the population, a Latino male has a 1-in-6 chance of being sentenced to prison. A white male has a 1-in-17 chance of being placed in a detention facility. Yet the laws impact on African-American men is truly stark. A newborn African-American male child has a 1-in-3 chance of being sent to prison in his lifetime. This statistic, along with police shootings of unarmed black men such as Shawn Bell in New York City, Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, not to mention Sandra Bland, who lost her life in a Texas jail cell, gave rise to our citizenry turning against Americas law enforcement methods. This point helped to turn public opinion against the Clinton crime measures of the 1990s.

During the election, Hillary Clinton was heckled and booed on the campaign trail. The Black Lives Matter group that was organized in response to police violence constantly reminded the voters of the Clinton role in anti-crime measures.

Hillary Clinton had to deal with an angry African-American electorate. This fact was indicated on Election Day. In 2008 as well as 2012, Barack Obama received roughly 96 percent of the African-American vote. Yet in 2016, Hillary Clinton lost because of a low turnout of African-Americans. She received 92 percent of votes from African-Americans who went to the polls. That was the smallest percentage for a Democratic candidate since 1960.

In other words, the Hillary Clinton of 1994 became an opponent of Hillary Clinton of 2016.
