‘Coup Memo’ Lawyer Ripped Mike Pence As He Hid From Jan. 6 ‘Hanging’ Mob: Report – Yahoo News

The attorney who wrote the infamous coup memos on how to jettison the results of a legitimate presidential election angrily blamed then-Vice President Mike Pence for the Capitol siege as rioters roamed through the building on Jan. 6, The Washington Post reported on Friday.

Donald Trumpattorney John Eastmanlambasted Pences chief counsel at the time, Greg Jacob, as he and Pence were under guard and hiding out as the mob streamed through the Capitol.

The siege is because YOU and your boss did not do what was necessary to allow this to be aired in a public way so that the American people can see for themselves what happened, Eastman reportedly wrote to Jacob, referring to Trumps baseless claims of voter fraud.

Jacob quoted from he email in an opinion piece he planned to publish earlier this year but ultimately opted not to. A draft of the article was obtained by the Post.

Eastman displayed a shocking lack of awareness of how those practical implications were playing out in real time, Jacob wrote in the draft, according to the Post. He called Eastmans relentless legal advice on how to subvert Americans vote a barrage of bankrupt legal theories.

Jacob wrote in the draft column that Eastman and Trumps former personal attorney Rudy Giuliani were part of a cadre of outside lawyers who had spun a web of lies and disinformation in an attempt to pressure Pence to betray his oath of office and the Constitution by rejecting electoral votes, the Post noted.

Eastman confirmed to the Post that he wrote the email to Jacob, but denied that he was blaming Pence for the violence. He insisted the election was plagued by widespread fraud, a perspective unsupported by any evidence.

Eastman was part of a Trump war room team based in the Willard Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., after Bidens victory, plotting how to overturn the results of the presidential election.

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection plans to subpoena Eastman.

Gardner resident honored for his role in Boston Tea Party, nearly 250 years later – The Gardner News

GARDNER There are perhaps only a few local residents who realize that there is a strongGardner connection with the Boston Tea Party and nowthat connection has been formally commemorated.

Joseph Payson, a Gardner resident who participated in the famed Boston Tea Party, was recognized by local officials at the Old Burying Ground on Oct. 25. A commemorative plaque was placed on Paysons gravestone as part of a movement sponsored by the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, a group dedicated to recognizing all members of the Dec. 16, 1773, protest event by the time of its 250th anniversary in two years.

Payson, who was born in Roxbury in 1743, served in the Revolutionary War following his participation in theBoston Tea Party, in which American colonists expressed their displeasure with Englands tax policies by dumping chests of tea into the citys harbor.

(This ceremony) really helps to bring our local history home, in a literal sense of the term, said Mayor Michael Nicholson. In elementary school and in middle school, you learn about our American history, you learn about the Boston Tea Party and the effects that it had, and you learn about the American Revolution and who fought there, but I think a lot of the times you forget that it was right in our backyard.

Battle of Bunker Hill: How a war hero mortally wounded on the battlefield became Gardner's namesake

Payson lived at 48 Chapel St. in the residence that eventually became the former Hunter Farm, which local residents of a certain age will remember was a popular spot to buy homemade ice cream between the years of 1964 and 1984. Gladys Hunter, whose family operated the farm and who still lives in the house, is the grandmother of City Council President Elizabeth Kazinskas.

Marion Knoll, the coordinator of the Gardner Museum, said Payson, who worked as a shoemaker in addition to being a farmer, was one of the original signers of the petition to incorporate Gardner into a town in 1785.

At Gardners second Town Meeting in September of 1785, Joseph Payson was elected sealer of leather, a town officer who had the authority to see that all (leather products) were made honestly in quality and quantity, Knoll said. (Payson) put a seal or stamp of approval on all the items that he inspected and certified.

Payson is listed as a head of household in the Gardner census of 1780, a year in which only 530 inhabitants lived in the community, according to Knoll.

Payson died peacefully in Gardner on April 13, 1833.

The image depicted on Paysons commemorative marker was inspired by Nathanial Curriers The Destruction of the Tea at Boston Harbor lithograph created in 1846, a popular and often-used artistic representation of the Boston Tea Party. The marker will be on display indefinitely, according to officials.

We believe that the Boston Tea Party is the single most important event leading up to the American Revolution, said Even OBrien, creative manager of the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. Its principles and values speak through the generations, and ideas of protesting against injustice and tyranny are things we all can relate to, even just shy of 250 years later.

Since 2019, a total of 87 commemorative markers have been placed at graves of known Boston Tea Party participants buried within some of the states oldest burying grounds. Over the next two years, leading up to the 250th anniversary of the event, which will take place on Dec. 16, 2023, the group plans to place additional markers at the graves of all 125 known participants buried throughout New England and the U.S.

Pavlich: Democrats’ weaponization of the DOJ is back | TheHill – The Hill

In 2009, a national, grassroots movement known as the Tea Party emerged in cities across the country to combat then-President ObamaBarack Hussein ObamaDon't let China distract us from Russia Biden appoints Sara Minkara as US special advisor on international disability rights Fox poll shows Youngkin leading McAuliffe by 8 points among likely voters MOREs radical spending agenda and government takeover of American health care. Bureaucrats at the IRS and Department of Justice quickly took notice and got to work to stop it. After all, with midterm elections right around the corner, Obamas political agenda was at stake.

This was not an accident. This is a willful act of intimidation to discourage a point of view. What the government did to our little group in Wetumpka, Alabama is un-American, Wetumpka Tea Party President Becky Gerritson testified at a June 2013 congressional hearing. The demands for information in the questionnaire shocked me as someone who loves liberty and the First Amendment. I was asked to hand over my donor list including the amounts that they gave and the dates in which they gave them.

We knew we were being targeted because fellow Tea Party organizers across this nation were getting the same types of letters and questionnaires, she continued.

Right on cue, IRS official Lois Lerner had a series of meetings with DOJ officials about how to criminally prosecute conservative groups with a goal of making them an example. Groups applying for tax-exempt status with the words tea party or patriot in their titles were singled out for extra scrutiny.

One IRS prosecution would make an impact and they wouldnt feel so comfortable doing the stuff, Lerner said in a 2013 email. In another email, Lerner said the Tea Party Matter [is] very dangerous.

It was obvious the IRS was attempting to quash political dissent. Lerner eventually admitted the targeting was wrong, retired and then the IRS lost thousands of her emails.

There was no justification for some of the language included in the letter. We should have had a better process in place to allow for consultation on a communication of this significance, the NSBA wrote in a follow up letter.
