Former first lady Michelle Obamaon Wednesdayshared a picture of the birthday bouquet she received from her husband, and, in a heartwarming Instagram post, called him her best friend.

Thank you@BarackObama for the beautiful flowers waiting for me in the office this morning. Youre my best friend, biggest fan, and getting notes and flowers from you will never get old, she wrote on Instagram. And to the many people from around the country who sent cards and posted on social media, you have no idea how much we love hearing from you.

How the former first lady spent January 17, which marks her 54th birthday, is largely unknown, but she did appear to be having a great time in the days leading up to it.

A recentphotoof her wearing a very stylish bikini, while vacationing in Miami, was posted by an Instagram user earlier in the week.
