Pence praises James Comer report on alleged Biden family business deals – Washington Examiner

Former Vice President Mike Pence praised Rep. James Comer (R-KY) on Wednesday for releasing financial records related to Hunter Biden-linked business deals in Romania and China.

Pence said he felt confident that Republican leaders in the House of Representatives would hold the Biden family accountable for alleged lies over accepting money from China and an alleged conflict of interest by having Hunter Biden sitting on the board of a foreign company.

"When I was vice president of the United States, my son wasn't sitting on the board of a foreign corporation," Pence told Fox News host Sean Hannity. "I think the most jarring thing that came out in the hearing today is when congressman Comer revealed that back in 2020, when [President] Joe Biden said repeatedly that he and their family, their companies, had never received any money from China. Now, using the subpoena power of the Congress and going to bank records, they have found out that Chinese money flowed into [an] account controlled and owned by the Biden family."

Comer, who is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, released a 36-page memo on Wednesday that claimed bank records the committee subpoenaed show the Biden family, their business associates, and their companies received over $10 million from companies belonging to foreign nationals while Biden served as vice president under former President Barack Obama and after he left public office in early 2017.

The new memo does not link any of the payments directly to the president, but it does link them to multiple family members.

Pence said he could not "comprehend" the revelations about the payments but claimed there would be justice for the antics of the Biden family.

"The American people deserve answers, and I just am so proud of members of Congress for holding them accountable," Pence said. "This is why we have a separation of powers under the Constitution. And this is why the Congress has the authority they have, and they've got to get to the bottom of it. They've got to hold Joe Biden and his family accountable for the truth. The American people deserve no less."

Pence's appearance on Fox occurred shortly after former President Donald Trump made his first appearance on CNN since his 2016 presidential campaign. During the town hall, Trump refused to apologize for slamming Pence in the aftermath of the 2020 election, maintaining that his former vice president "did something wrong."

The two former running mates have rarely appeared together since leaving the White House. Pence is considering a competing bid for the Republican nomination for president in 2024 against Trump, who has already announced his campaign. Pence is expected to make a final decision in June.
