Former Vice President Mike Pence answered questions from New Hampshire voters Tuesday in a taping of "Conversation with the Candidate."Pence has not yet announced a run for president, but Granite State voters wanted to know if he does run, how he plans to get past the Republicans currently leading in polls that show him in single digits."I'm not a candidate right now. We'll keep you posted here in New Hampshire, I promise," Pence said. "But the fact that ever since I left office, there's always been a certain percentage of Republicans that have mentioned us for the highest office in the land is deeply humbling to me."Pence told voters he favors an all-of-the-above energy policy."We ought to encourage innovation, encourage energy diversification," he said. "But we shouldn't be making American families and American businesses pay a price that countries around the world are not paying."On the issue of abortion, Pence said he now backs national restrictions."The Supreme Court returned the question of abortion, which is a deeply, profoundly important issue in the heart of our nation, to the states and to the American people," Pence said. "If I'm ever called back into public service in our nation's capital, I'll also look for ways to advance the sanctity of life at the national level."Voters in the crowd said they found Pence to be more personable than they expected. "I think it's something you don't see like many candidates you don't see it from afar," said Patrick Connelly, of Chester.
