Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune residents will soon know who their Liberal candidate will be for the 2015 provincial election.

Nominations opened last Wednesday and close Jan. 12. Voting will take place Mon., Jan. 19.

Three residents of the Coast of Bays said in 2014 that they would be seek the nomination - Bill Carter of Harbour Breton, Conrad Collier of St. Albans and Mildred Skinner of Harbour Breton.

The candidates outlined some of their views in an earlier Advertiser article.

Bill Carter

Carter said one of the key issues in the district is the co-existence of its two main industries the traditional fishery and the aquaculture industry.

Its well known that the aquaculture industry has been a huge economic boost to the region in the past eight years, he said. We really need to make sure the industry is managed properly, particularly from a bio-security perspective.

We need to protect the long-term stability, viability and sustainability of the industry which has to be managed in a constructive manner.
