Irans non-oil exports reach $35bn

Irans non-oil exports increased to $35bn since the start of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2014), an official announced on Thursday, according to Fars News Agency.

The Head of Irans Customs Administration, Masoud Karbasian, told the state-run news agency that the highest figure of exports in the country belonged to Hormozgan Province which was followed by Khuzestan.

He put exports from Shalamcheh border at $777m, and added that 500 truckloads of exported goods transport from Shalamcheh to Iraq on a daily basis.

Construction materials, petrochemical items, fruits and vegetables are the main Iranian commodities exported to Iraq, the official said, adding that Khuzestan province has a special place in the transit of passengers as well as imports and exports of goods, especially in the port of Khorramshahr and Abadan.

Irans non-oil exports increased 20 per cent in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2014 November 22, 2014) as compared with last years corresponding period.

The value of non-oil exports since the start of the current year has increased by over 20 per cent compared with the same period last year, the Head of Irans Trade Promotion Organisation, Valiollah Afkhamirad, said in December, addressing a forum in Kerman Province, Southern Iran.

He noted that Iran exported $31.5bn worth of non-oil goods in the said period.

Also in December, Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, underlined his governments plans to boost non-oil exports to $50bn next year.

One of the most important topics of the governments economic plans is increasing non-oil exports and this growth will help our economy, Rouhani said in Tehran, addressing an open session of the parliament in which he presented the budget bill for the next Iranian year (to start on March 21) to the legislative body.

We hope to see a considerable share of non-oil exports next year and by continuing this trend, (the country revenues from) non-oil exports will surpass $50bn, he added.
