The School of Internet Marketing Instructor on Journalists Dying for a Job

Jersey City, New Jersey (PRWEB) August 31, 2013

The topic of the weekly podcast on August 16, 2013 by the professor of The School of Internet Marketing and President of Halyard Consulting, Jonathan Goodman, was about the journalists who are killed while investigating and reporting the news. Approximately 1,000 journalists have been killed since the Committee to Protect Journalists began record-keeping.*

Goodman discussed the deaths of the numerous journalists in light of the advance in technology. He posed the question to the audience if it was really necessary today to put oneself in the line of fire for the cause of journalism. Due to social networking and portable technology, many of those who are on the front lines have the ability to provide first-hand video and information about the events unfolding in front of them. Perhaps journalists can report the news through those accounts without risking their own lives.

"Are there better ways to get the message out, to get the shot that is required for people to wake up to the stories that are being told?" Jonathan Goodman

Some of the most vivid images of the wars going on have been captured by locals and military personnel who are on the front lines or are victims of the situations. Even though many say that they choose to take these risks to report the truth to those on the outside, Goodman questioned if it was really necessary to be in harm's way. For every death, the world loses another talented journalist who still had more to say.
