Two Russian players sanctioned at World Chess Championship for shameful collusion video – Yahoo News

While chess is known worldwide as the Game of Kings, two Russian players showed that in Russia, chess is a game for bandits.

Two Russian chess players were handed technical defeats at World Blitz Chess Championship after conspiring to play to an advantageous draw.

Danilo Dubov and Yan Nepomnyashchiv were given the losses after playing to a draw in just 12 moves.

The gross example of sportsmanship was agreed to after the players had only moved their knights. The players also saw their kings and queens exchange places.

Tournament referee Ivan Surovy (Slovakia) cited the obviousness of collusion and blatant lack of respect for the game for disciplining the bums. An appeal by the cheaters was promptly dismissed.

Norways chess legend Magnus Carlsen won the World Title.
