Social media fuel cheating among married couples
Mrs. Foluke Ogunwale (not real name), 34, is married with two children but she and her husband live apart.
Last year, Folukes marriage almost crashed after her husband stumbled on her chatting history with another man on her smart phone, during one of his visits.
Foluke said her husband had been infuriated by some erotic messages she and the other man shared via the social media.
Although, Foluke did not say if she slept with the man, who she had met on Facebook, she, admitted to have shared some intimate moments with the man on the social media.
The guy and I were very close that I could tell him anything. It was difficult to believe that we had met on Facebook. We would skype and talk into the night once my children were asleep, she said.
Folukes story is simple; two years after her marriage, Ogunwale got a job in Warri, Delta State. It was the first major test for the couples blissful marriage thus far.
Naturally, Ogunwale was excited, but taking the job meant leaving Foluke and their one-year-old baby behind in Lagos after she had made it clear that she was not leaving her steady job for uncertainty in a strange land.
Eventually, Ogunwale left for Warri alone, in spite of Folukes tearful pleas to him to remain in Lagos.
She said, That was the beginning of our problem. We fought over the issue but he left and was coming home every two weeks. There were nights I would wake up feeling so lonely; so I became very close to my phone.
In essence, Foluke browsed the web a lot more and later met her lover online. Incidentally, the man Foluke met on the social media and got intimate with was also married.
