Facebook has been blasted as "subhuman" for refusing to remove a disgusting page that celebrates the deaths of the Hillsborough disaster victims.
The social networking website said it is not taking action because the page doesnt violate our community standards.
Charlotte Hennessy, whose dad James was one of the 96 people who died in the tragedy in 1989, is appalled by the stance being taken by Facebook.
She said: I think this is totally outrageous. It is disgusting. I have been on the page and it is awful.
These people didnt know my dad, how can they slander him and the other victims like this? It is completely unacceptable.The vile page has already attracted more than 1,000 likes.
Matthew Hemus, from St Helens, reported the page to Facebook and asked for it to be removed.
But the site sent back a dismissive message, saying: Reports like yours are an important part of making Facebook a safe and welcoming environment. We reviewed the page you reported for containing hate speech or symbols and found it doesn't violate our community standards.
Matthew said: This site is disgusting and its subhuman that Facebook are not willing to take it down.
Tuesday marked the 25th anniversary of the disaster when 96 Liverpool FC fans were killed at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
