Youth duped through social networking site | Aurangabad News … – Times of India

AURANGABAD: A city youth has been duped of Rs 30,000 by an unidentified person by offering a job in Dubai Navy after winning his confidence through a social networking site.

The city police's cybercrime branch said that this is the first instance where someone from Aurangabad was duped through a social networking site.

Saurabh Manikrao Savarkar (28) of Chetna Nagar has stated in his complaint with the Jawahar Nagar police station that the suspect sent him a friend's request, which he readily accepted, a few days back.

"The suspect boasted about his contacts with high-profile people, impressed the youth and even exchanged phone numbers with him," police said.

According to the police, during one of the calls, the suspect asked Savarkar if he was interested in joining Dubai Navy. After the youth expressed his willingness, the suspect sent an account number and asked him to deposit Rs 30, 000 for visa and ticket for Dubai.

Savarkar made an online transaction of the said amount in the account number shared by the suspect on February 9. However, he realised that he had been cheated as the suspect started avoiding him.

Assistant inspector Gajanan Kalyankar of the cybercrime branch said that usually, such modus operandi is used by Nigerian racketeers and that this is the first such case in the city.

Looking for a New Job? Check Facebook – PCMag India

Step aside, LinkedIn. Facebook wants to make the process of finding a job or filling an open position at your company a little easier.

The social network on Wednesday announced new tools to connect job seekers with companies looking for hires. This looks to be the official launch of a pilot program we got wind of back in November last year.

Businesses in the US and Canada can now post job openings on their pages, and job seekers can browse these opportunities via a new jobs bookmark as well as alongside other posts on business pages. Job openings may also start to appear in your news feed.

Facebook is making it super easy to apply for jobs you see on the service. No more filling out page after page of information about yourself and your work history: When you spot a job opening that suits you, just click the Apply Now button and a form will open that's pre-populated with information from your Facebook profile. You can review and edit your information before submitting it.

As for the businesses posting the job listings, not only do they open up the potential for many more people to see the job due to the size of Facebook's user base, they can also contact potential applicants directly using Messenger.

Facebook said it will be rolling out these new resources over the next few weeks.

Before applying to jobs on the social network, just be sure to check out the public version of your Facebook profile and remove any questionable photos or posts that might turn off potential employers.

An equation is being represented by the financial loss of Twitter which starts with the leak of users and ends up in the wall streets loss of confidence and a really dark scenario in the coming future. When company wrote this thing clearly and said that it was for the safety purposes, take it or not, protests started taking place at the very same moment. Facebook Videos to Auto-Play With Sound Turned On (Ugh) – PCMag India

When Facebook first started rolling out auto-play videos on timelines, it mercifully muted the footage by default. That changes going forward, though, as videos will now automatically play with the sound turned on.

Facebook Engineering Manager Alex Li and Product Manager Dana Sittler announced the change in a Tuesday blog post, writing that "as people watch more video on phones, they've come to expect sound when the volume on their device is turned on."

The social network has been testing this new "sound on" feature, and received "positive feedback" about it, Li and Sittler added. So it's slowly rolling out to more people.

Until now, videos in news feeds played silently until a user tapped to listen. Now, sound will automatically start playing, unless your phone is set to silent. "With this update, sound fades in and out as you scroll through videos in news feed, bringing those videos to life," Li and Sittler wrote. Just don't get caught scrolling Facebook in the middle of class or a meeting.

Rest assured that there is a way to disable this feature from the Settings menu. Just head over to the Settings, navigate to the Videos section, and disable the option "Videos in News Feed Start with Sound."

Also today, Facebook confirmed plans to launch a new video app for TV, as was rumored earlier this month. The app will roll out soon to app stores for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TV, with support for more platforms expected in the future.

"Our video app for TV is a new way to enjoy Facebook videos on a bigger screen," Li and Sittler wrote. "With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests." You can also watch videos you've saved, already watched, shared, or uploaded.

Tips for Managing Your Time on Social Networking – Rocks Digital (blog)

Social networking has become one of the most important ways to complement business communication, but its also one of the biggest sources of distraction and time suck for otherwise productive entrepreneurs.

Learning to manage your own social networking time will help you leverage all the great benefits while avoiding the unwanted side effects of lost time and productivity.

Here are just a few tips to get you going

Before committing to participation on another social network, make sure you have a very clear idea of what you want to accomplish. How does your time spent on that network contribute back to your business, marketing, and sales goals?

Think about it if you were going on a trip by car, youd need to have some idea of a destination, where to start, and what roads youre going to take to get there. This kind of planning is even more important on social media because its just too easy to get distracted.

Its important to know what you want to get out of your networking efforts.Whether its the ever-changing political climate that gets you all fired up or a funny meme of a cat saying something hilarious, weve all been distracted online.

Take time to identify your goals over the long term (expand your reach, get more loyalty from your audience, etc.) and what you intend to do on a short term, daily basis (respond to comments, post a new video).Whether you use paper and pen, mind mapping software, or voice memos to yourself to plan this out, record your ideas somewhere so you have a rock solid plan for what you hope to do.

I like using Trello to help organize themes and expected outcomes for each network where I spend time.

Limit the Networks Youre Involved In

Too many business owners try to be everywhere at once. This is a recipe for burnout and it isnt likely to grow your businessbecause you wont have time to work on your actual business. Its important to select only a handful of key social networks and if youre just getting started, simply begin with one network and expand from there.

Of course, finding out what works best for your business will take some experimentation. Just dont rush to do everything at once because you need to dedicate the appropriate time and effort to seeing what produces the most benefit.Your time is money, and its important to focus more on those activities that directly generate income wherever you can, which brings me to the next tip.

Prioritize Other Tasks First Before Social Networking

On a daily basis, work on your core business tasks first and then try saving social networking for the latter part of the day. That way, you can ensure everything that needs to get done gets taken care of.Carving out time at the end of your day will allow you a chance to do more exploration, and you can use that time to find new people to follow, interesting articles to share and more.

Speaking of prioritizing, decide how much time you are going to spend and what youre going to do once you log into your social networking accounts. And always remember, when you log in serve your fans first reply to comments, likes and shares.

Define Your Notification Strategy

Theres nothing more detrimental to productivity than being interrupted all day long with emails telling you about new retweets, likes and comments. You can limit these interruptions in a few ways:

Get Help with Your Social Networking

Theres no reason you have to do all your social networking by yourself. Even if youre a solo entrepreneur, you can hire a team or have an assistant alongside to help you.If you do bring in help, there are several common tasks they might assist with.

Building a team that represents your brand pulls a lot of pressure away from you and allows you to focus more on strategy and business building.

Dont let social networking overwhelm or consume you, or become a time suck. As long as you define your goals, create space in your calendar, and incorporate systems that work for you, social networking can be a huge advantage for your business!
