Pence: ‘Frustrating’ to see judge suspend Trump’s immigration order – Politico

Vice President Mike Pence said Saturday that Seattle judge James Robart's ruling to halt President Donald Trump's immigration order is "frustrating to all of us."

During an interview with ABC's "This Week," Pence was asked by host George Stephanopoulos whether it was appropriate for Trump to question the legitimacy of a federal judge, after he tweeted Saturday morning about the "so-called" judge.

"I think the American people are very accustomed to this president speaking his mind and speaking very straight with them," Pence said in an excerpt released Saturday. "But to see a judge actually suspend that order across the country, George, is frustrating to all of us."

The full interview will air Sunday.

Early Saturday, Trump tweeted: "The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!"

Pence said Trump's order, which bans Syrian refugees from coming to the U.S. and halts visas from being issued to people from seven Muslim-majority countries, was "legal" and that the "administration is going to be using all legal means at our disposal to challenge the judge's order."

When pressed by Stephanopoulous about Trump's statement on how Robart is a "so-called judge," Pence said "the president is determined to use the authority that he has under the Constitution, and under the law, but we'll work through the courts to challenge that rule."

Stephanopoulos followed up by asking whether Robart has the authority to do what he did.

"He certainly does, and that's why the administration is complying with that order as we speak and we'll go through that process in the courts to get a stay of that order so that, again, we can implement this action that is entirely focused on the safety and security of the American people," Pence said.

Robart was nominated by former President George W. Bush.

First on CNN: Vice President Mike Pence to attend Super Bowl – CNN

Pence will be the fourth sitting vice president to attend a Super Bowl. Vice Presidents Spiro Agnew, George H.W. Bush and Al Gore each attended the NFL championship game while in office.

Security was already slated to be tight at Sunday's event. The Department of Homeland Security had designated the Super Bowl as a top-tier national security event and federal officials have for months been involved in security planning and will help secure Houston's NRG Stadium.

Pence press secretary Marc Lotter declined to confirm Pence's attendance, but said the vice president's schedule would be released later Friday.

It's unclear whether Pence, the former Indiana governor, has a favorite as the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots face off Sunday, but that may not be the case for President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Falcons' owner Arthur Blank criticized Trump earlier this week for his executive order suspending the US refugee program and banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from the US as well as for the White House's statement on the Holocaust, which made no mention of Jews.

Bush, the second sitting vice president to ever attend a Super Bowl, will also do the coin toss Sunday.

SJWs Blast Mike Pence for Commemorating White Man at Outset of Black History Month – PJ Media

On Monday evening, Vice President Mike Pence decided to commemorate Black History Month (February) by praising President Abraham Lincoln, the man who submitted the 13th Amendment, ending slavery once and for all in the United States of America. Naturally, this was too much for social justice warriors on Twitter, who mocked Pence for praising a white man for Black History Month.

"As #BlackHistoryMonth begins, we remember when Pres. Lincoln submitted the 13th Amendment, ending slavery, to the states #NationalFreedomDay," Pence posted on Twitter.

Pence wasn't just saying this. February 1 is National Freedom Day, a day commemorating President Lincoln's submission of the 13th Amendment. It also happens to be the first day of Black History Month, which grew out of Negro History week, the second week of February, chosen to coincide with the birthdays ofAbraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. It is arguable that the month, like the week, was chosen for the specific reference to the abolition of slavery, set in motion by Lincoln.

But 2017 social justice warriors don't care about history so long as they can make a point.

C.X. Cope, the founder of Bedlam PAC, a liberal organization which sells "Fruck Trump" t-shirts, tried to give Pence a lesson in race. ".@VP ......he was white. This is BLACK History Month," Cope himself a white man but a Black Lives Matter activist nonetheless tweeted.

SJWs launched a hashtag, #PenceBlackHistory, suggesting that praising Abraham Lincoln at the outset of Black History Month is just as offensive as praising any white person on a month to commemorate black people's accomplishments.

"Black History Month: Let's remember @JoeBiden,first Vice President to a Black President," tweeted Jeremy Bandini, with the #PenceBlackHistory tag.

" In honor of #BHMwe recognize the KKK because without them there would be no Black Panthers," Justin Key chimed in.

"If white people never enslaved you and took your civil rights, then you would have never had MLK and Malcolm X," tweeted another user.
