Urban Dictionary: Libertarian

A former Republican who grew larger balls and decided to say fuck the establishment.

I became Libertarian once I fully understood the Constitution.

One who follows a Utopian political ideology which claims to support individual freedoms in all areas socially and economically. Ironically, while they advocate "small" government, (i.e. reduction of government in all areas except those which protect the domination of the capitalist class) if the libertarian ideology were to actually be put into effect, it would more than likely lead to an extremely oppressive society, dominated even more than now, by a wealthy few. Because of this, libertarianism can be described as a form of corporatism in disguise. Libertarianism is popular among rebellious high schoolers who in actuality know little of politics or the real world.

1. Someone who thinks Somalia is a nice place to live. 2. One who thinks Ayn Rand is a good writer and isn't crazy. 3. Delves into the archives of history to base an ideology off of Industrial Age Europe in much the same way conservatives do medieval England. 4. One who thinks the free market should decide whether or not it's okay to force your children to work in African mines doing backbreaking labor, inhaling toxic fumes and whatnot for eight cents an hour.

^ each and every one a proud Libertarian

-Children working in factories and mines -Corporate monopolies -Workplaces where death is likely -Low, low wages -Shit in your food (Read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle") -Even more extreme corporate corruption and political pawns than we have now. -Getting the living fuck stomped out of you by company-hired goons for trying to organize a union (Battle of the Overpass)

-Typical libertarian

also, they support vouchers, giving money to kids to go to private schools. if there is the money to send these kids to private schools, why not use that money to improve the public schools?

libertarians believe in economic freedom. economic freedom may have been a good idea back in the 1700's, but today it's naive to think big corporations are better left unrestricted.

In North America, the term libertarian means what everywhere else is called a Classical Liberal. This is a person who essentially pushes for the rights of big business at any cost. The Libertarian party was, not surprisingly, started by the billionaire Koch brothers. Two key unspoken tenets of North American libertarianism: companies should never be regulated because the Little Guy must fend for himself, and companies should be free to pollute at will. This is a true and accurate description of North American libertarians attitudes although they always try to appear virtuous and intellectual. They are neither. In their effort to appear intelligent, libertarians is argue that in a free market (which has never existed) everything is fair. Not so. In any country that doesn't protect the little guy, big companies can pummel them into submission, particularly in the courts but also when the little guy is a shareholder or employee or a voter. Corporations power lets them get away with almost anything. Even economist Adam Smith would have rejected corporatism, because he believed companies should always be small.

CNN to host Libertarian ticket for town hall – CNNPolitics.com

Story highlights

Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and his running mate, Bill Weld, will sit down with anchor Chris Cuomo in this prime-time event on June 22. The town hall will take place at 9 p.m. ET from the Time Warner Center in New York City and air on CNN, CNN International and CNN en Espanol, while also being live-streamed via CNNgo.

Cuomo and voters will ask questions of Johnson and Weld at the town hall, similar to those posed to the Democratic and Republican candidates during the primaries. This will be the 11th town hall hosted by CNN during this presidential election cycle.

Johnson has said that their short-term goal is to meet the 15% threshold in national polls needed to make the national debates this fall. Given lingering antipathy toward Republican nominee Donald Trump from some GOP elites, the Johnson-Weld ticket could fare substantially better than most third-party bids typically do.

Libertarianism | Cato Institute

Libertarianism is the belief that each person has the right to live his life as he chooses so long as he respects the equal rights of others. Libertarians defend each persons right to life, liberty, and property. In the libertarian view, voluntary agreement is the gold standard of human relationships. If there is no good reason to forbid something (a good reason being that it violates the rights of others), it should be allowed. Force should be reserved for prohibiting or punishing those who themselves use force, such as murderers, robbers, rapists, kidnappers, and defrauders (who practice a kind of theft). Most people live their own lives by that code of ethics. Libertarians believe that that code should be applied consistently, even to the actions of governments, which should be restricted to protecting people from violations of their rights. Governments should not use their powers to censor speech, conscript the young, prohibit voluntary exchanges, steal or redistribute property, or interfere in the lives of individuals who are otherwise minding their own business.

What part of choosing between two evils that are still evil do you not understand? None of it, apparently.

Stalin pursued a more anti-semitic policy after WW2 than he did before it, hence my point: Evil is evil, greater or lesser, it is still Evil.

Why choose evil? When we choose between two evils, the choice we make is still evil.

Hark at the sound of the collectivist statist! "I speak for everyone! Most people are okay with statism! I speak for all of you and not just me!"

And here we arrive at my very point of the problem, that you believe people's genes are flag-wrapped, and defines people's genes.

I repeat what I said:

Thank you for proving my point for me.

If most people weren't ok with Statism, it would have been overthrown long ago.

Milton Hayek

There is thing called generalization. If I'd say that everyone here opposed pedophilia, you'd not question that everyone would agree. At most I generalized too much when I said most people would agree with me. But apparently, using generalizations is the same as wanting to vote of whom we should rape before expropriating their property.

Don't be a dork. Of course chosing lesser evil is still evil, thats the whole f***ing point of chosing lesser evil. Only cowards will after choosing lesser evil claim they are choosing morally pure option. Because they are too cowardly to accept that sometimes harsh reality offers no clean solution. And only self-indulgent moral moralist will be paralysed with inaction rather that do something that can help to make the world better place now. What should Jews and others caught between Nazism ans Stalinism have done? Support latter (which does not want to exterminate them immediately) only until it becomes clear Stalinism will win, and then drop out of fight, stay undercover and maintain strength, while two evils bleed themselves dry, and prepare for resistance against victor. Supporting someone as long as it benefits you does not mean you agree with him or that ghe is your friend.

And again, why the hell you would think majority of people are not okay with statism, if even most of libertarians are okay with some limited statism.

Freise is ranked 1st in libertarian and 19,940th in the world for Most Beautiful Environments, with 162.5 Pounds of Wildlife less Pounds of Concrete per square mile.

Milton Hayek

Because, when I make statement about majority of people supporting statism (while not claiming that their view is correct due to its popularity), I am collectivist a**hole who baselessly claims to speak for everyone. But when you make a statement about majority of people hating statism, well, you just speak hard irreffutable facts.

If they think there's no alternative to what is governing them, they go to polling booth based on misplaced ideals, and become disillusioned with it, they are not bother to investigate whet the alternatives may be, don't care much if who they are voting for is evil or not, and become politically apathetic. They are ok with it enough not to do anything about it.
